OOTP 17 Update #1, Version 17.4.36 released!

Important: This update is only for OOTP 17 versions which were purchased directly from us or resellers who use our version.
It is NOT compatible with the Steam or Mac OSX AppStore version! The Steam update is available via the Steam client soon and the Mac AppStore version is pending review at Apple, which will take some more days.

Hey guys,

We have just released the first update for OOTP 17, version number 17.4.36. It fixes several issues:

- Improved 2016 MLB roster sets (need to start new game for changes to apply)
- Greatly improved quality for included real MLBPA FaceGen images
- Improved simulation speed (dramatic improvements for some systems)
- Added a new quickstart "MLB 2016" which only includes the MLB plus the affiliated minor leagues
- Fixed bug where wrong players were imported automatically in random debut historical leagues
- Fixed problem with international leagues signing too many foreign free agents despite foreigner limit
- Fixed some issues in the historical databases
- Improved 3D gameplay bounces
- Improved player opt-out logic
- Fixed a bug that caused the Steam Workshop dialog to pop up after postponed games
- Fixed bug with special characters in directory path (could not save database file)
- Added HOF ballot years and induction pct to retired player lists (need to delete data/tables folder)
- Fixed financial issues with draft/intl FA budgets
- Fixed several small bugs and cosmetic issues

Update Info: To apply the update, simply download the setup file and install it over your current installation. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy! However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course. updates always contain all the changes from previous updates. Saved games are compatible between different versions.

Thank you very much for your support!
Andreas & the OOTP Team

Thanks !! :flowers:
Little Question : Is it possible in the future to do a "real patch" , instead always downloading the full game ?

A bit of a pain as the installer always overwrites all custom files like backgrounds , logos etc ...

Hopefully this is possible

Nope, sorry. This is lot of extra work for us so we stopped doing this a few years ago. The Steam version does this automatically though, it updates only the files which were changed :)

You may have to delete the \tables folder inside the OOTP data folder for those to pop up.

Well, not 100% correct. The Steam version downloads only the changes, but OOTP still installs more files. The problem that an update overwrites customized files is exactly the same problem on all version of OOTP, no matter if they are from our web store, from Steam or from the App Store.
But yes, we're thinking about a way to improve this.

Just back up your custom files, install the update, and then copy your backed up custom files where they belong :) Should take only a minute or two I suppose...

So we need to delete this folder?

And depending on the files, it's not unusual that it requires you to rebuild your skin.bin file. FWIW

That's the one. Keep in mind though that your custom views & custom filters will get lost if you created any.

Only if you installed a custom skin.

Well, often when someone refers to custom files, they're also including changes made to the Images directory in the Data path, like background or icons, etc... Maybe it's the exception, maybe not.

I rebuild mine because of basically common customizations: starting screen, depth field, mood icons*, custom award icon. I did notice that recently- unless it's a blurred memory ;) -I have not had to make any changes to the Facegen/3D folder where I keep the custom FA cap and jersey. Those remain untouched.

So, yeah, custom skin, but let's be sure folks know what that means as above: anything you've changed in the Data/Skins/YOURskin/images folder will revert to default unless you rename skin.bin and let it rebuild. :2cents:

Patch seems to make shopping a player take forever

Hello!! The new patch seems to have made shopping a player go from 5 seconds to 2-3 Minutes. Even when no one offers.

Also some times the player faces are not displayed in the offered players list.

Love the game!

did all MLB post-season stats get completely deleted from the stats database or...?

This is an excellent reason to use the Steam version.

Well, crap.

Please do something about this. Having to download the entire game again every time there's a patch and then having every patch overwrite everything we have customized is not a good thing.
