2016 Debut Thread
I will post photos of debuting players, managers, coaches and umpires in this thread as they occur throughout the 2016 season. I generally wait to post player photos until they are listed on Baseball-Reference.com, typically the morning following their debut. I will post manager, coach and umpire photos as soon as I become aware of their debut.
I have un-stuck the 2015 Debut Thread, which you can find here. |

Additional 2016 Coach Debuts

Major league teams are allowed seven coaches on their active roster. 24 teams use the seventh slot for an assistant hitting coach. The Brewers, Mariners, Padres, Phillies, Rockies and Royals do not employ an assistant hitting coach. The Phillies, Rockies and Royals use the final slot for a catching coach (John McLaren, Rene Lachemann and Pedro Grifol, respectively), the Brewers and Padres simply label the position "coach" (Jason Lane and Eddie Rodriguez) and the Mariners use the spot for a QC coach, Chris Prieto. Lane and Prieto, shown below, have not coached before in the majors and, even though their positions would not traditionally be included in the "official" coach roster, I am leaning toward including them in my coaches database and in the Coaches pack.

2016 Interim Coach

Rangers third base coach Tony Beasley is currently undergoing treatment for cancer and the Rangers have named Spike Owen interim third base coach, in the event that Beasley is unable to resume his duties during the regular season. If Beasley returns before the season starts, Owen will return to his minor league position.
