I would be interested to hear some of the very smart people on here discuss the recent devaluation of Cal Ripken Cards. 100 peak and 98 All-star

Was it performance related that everyone is dumping him? Supply? A fresh face? Just settling into his actual value?

For transparency i do have one on the AH>

I'd guess the addition of other competitors (perf Lou Boudreau) had a big impact on his price. Haven't used either so cant confirm, just looking at the ratings/prices.

Big shifts in other top players, too. Walsh, Smoltz, Vida Blue, many others have seen their auction prices drop in the past 10 days. I think it's merely a function of AH marketplace (with influx of new missions and top cards having a sizable impact).

Definitely the Boudreau release. All of the whale teams put him in at the expense of a player like Ripken or Dahlen, so there were several copies out there undercutting each other. I grabbed one of the Ripkens for 130, will probably use until I finish up Boudreau myself.

The SE cards will naturally decrease over time as more people finish the mission. Walsh is a great card but not a 400K one.

I should add that mine was performance related vs what i could obtain on the AH as a replacement. If he keeps dropping that may have to change.

Well I finally sold this card...unfortunately i accidentally quicksold it..uughhh. 130KPP thrown away in a click.

That QS button with no prompt is so frustrating, losing 100k+ because of it must be maddening. Yeh I know it's on the agenda for a fix, but it doesn't help you now.

That is a shame. I understand how easy it is to make that mistake.

Yeah, the answer as others have said is Boudreau. Ripken's value was already dwindling a bit among the top teams and then Boudreau comes along and does just about everything (other than 1B D) better.

Is this what is throwing off the average winning bid on cards?

Since quicksell is not a bid, I doubt it.

its a combination of fraudulent transactions that get wiped and the average is actually a median. there is also probably some outlier algorithm meant to catch fraud but actually voids legitimate sales from mission cards that shot up in value

been trying to sell a 98 Ripken...combination of the collections and diamond packs killing my hopes of moving it for anything decent.

Frustrating since it's on my pack only that's getting relegated from perfect and hasn't generated much all week. Hard to take shots at rebuilding a putrid pitching team when you can't sell a player to get the packs needed for a shot at it.

None of the Ripken cards impressed me much to be honest.

I think one of the big issues with him is he is a vL platoon only and there are more high quality vR options that you could potentially play full time at this point.
