Ideas For Fictional League
I am going to be finalizing my Mississippi River League (16 team league) and I was looking for ideas on how to make it different. Here are a few ideas:
1) Get rid of FA Compensation. 2) Institute Draft Lottery (like NBA and NHL) 3) Import historical players (1 per year; I would rename the players) Any other ideas? |
Sure
Pick one team and name every player after kids ya grew up with...
|
I rename the top draftee after a friend and check their careers once a season or so.

The last place team is disbanded and replaced with an expansion club, complete with a standard expansion draft.
|
Unique settings like a 200-game season and/or best-of-nine play-offs

Reduce the contract years limit to 5 years or less (from 10). As far as the off-season is concerned, it makes it much more interesting, and even the richest of teams has to concern itself with its budget. There's also more turnover for each club, which makes the standings look different every year, and makes each club feel a fresher year to year.
If you wanted to go even a step further, you can disable contract renewals, meaning every player goes into free agency every 5 years or less. |
Do an indoor league. Every team plays in a dome and over the winter. Give the NFL/NHL/NBA a run for its money.

That is cool. I have a hard time staying engaged in solo leagues so any type of personalization helps. |
