Leafs Move:
[Dec.1.2016] This afternoon the Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager Doug Gilmour announced that he's made a move involving 21, LW, Tobias Lindberg. The Leafs will be shipping the youngster to Arizona. Tobias Lindberg has played with the Marlies all season so far and has the following stats: (GP:18,G:5,A:8,PTS:13,PIM:13,+/-:4).

Arizona will be sending a 3rd Round Draft Pick in the 2017 Draft and they will also get 28, LD, Jamie McBain. McBain has been very vocal about his un-happiness with the organization and requested a trade the past couple of weeks. McBain has been playing for Arizona's AHL team and has the following stats: (GP:9,G:0,A:4,PTS:4,PIM:8,+/-:-1).

The trade gives Toronto another durable Defenceman and his play making ability could be extremely useful.

Leafs Return for Lupul:
[Jan.1.2017] After a long injury recovery, 33, LW, Joffrey Lupul will return to the Maple Leafs Roster when they take on the Detroit Red Wings Tonight.

Lupul's been on a rut the past few years with injuries and it's continued onwards since. The return is one the Leafs hope will last.

Gilmour was asked where he planned to put Lupul and right now as it seems, Lupul will be placed on the Fourth Line, with Rychel and Kapanen. The move will let Lupul slowly work himself back into a major role with the team.

Maple Leafs Regular Season | News Wire | 2016-2017
Leafs Trade Deadline Shows: "We're Pushing For Playoffs":
[Mar.1.2017] General Manager Doug Gilmour decided they're going to push their way to the playoffs. Currently 38-20-4 (3rd in their Division and 4th in the Conference) The thought the Leafs will make the playoffs for the first time since the 2013/2013 season is very high.

They've gone out and grabbed some Playoff experience guys that were up for grabs.

The Leafs will be trading:
LW, 32, Milan Michalek (GP:56, G:7, A:9, PIM:26, +/-:-4)
RW: 23, Josh Leivo (AHL: GP:28, G:17, A:14. PIM:8, +/-:+11)
& Their 3rd Round Draft Pick in 2017

To the Los Angeles Kings (12th in their conference, 15pts out of 8th place) in exchange for:
RD, 29, Alec Martinez (GP:63, G:8, A:20, PIM:22, +/-:-6)
& soon to be unrestricted free agent RW, 24, Tyler Toffoli (GP:59, G:16, A:15, PIM:16, +/-:-2)

The trade allows the Leafs to grab too former Stanley Cup Winners in recent years to the roster. On the other hand, LA will be able to either let Milan go to free agents this upcoming July or sign him, Josh Leivo is a great prospect to keep around also, and they'll have that extra 3rd Round pick for the Draft.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
In another trade we see a return from a familar face as Toronto sends the following to Arizona:
RD, 39, Stephane Robidas (Has not played this season)
& Rights to G, 18, Joseph Woll (League:NCAA, W:9, L:4, GAA:2.20, SV%:.930)

In return, the Coyotes will send:
LD, 27, Luke Schenn (GP:45, G:4, A:8, PIM:41, +/-:-8)

The trade sees Luke Schenn returning to his first ever NHL team since being traded back in 2012 to the Philadelphia Flyers.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gilmour also went to the free agents and signed C, 32, Mike Richards (League:Cz1, GP:27, G:11, A:22, PIM:14, +/-:0).

The addition reunites former teammates Alec Martinez and Tyler Toffoli with Mike Richards who was apart of the Los Angeles Kings 2012, 2014 Stanley Cup Titles.

Richards hasn't been much to look at since his last title. He played in the 2015/2016 campaign with the Washington Capitals but only knocked up 2 goals and 3 assists in his 39 games with them.

Despite that, Gilmour says "Mike Richards still has some fight left in him and he's going to prove it out there.". He also added "Mike Richards does all the little things people don't notice. His back checking, his man to man coverage, and his ability to put the puck in the net or on his teammates stick is a huge plus for us."

Mike Richards flew in last night and was quickly approached by media. "I was as suprised as you were." when asked about his signing. He also mentioned "It's great to play for an organization like the Leafs. They're one of the original six teams, how can't you be excited to play here."

Toronto's Preseason Perfect!
The Toronto Maple Leafs were able to go undefeated during the preseason which amazed many. General Manager Doug Gilmour and Head Coach Gary Roberts even rotated the players out/in, brought players up, sent players down, etc, etc.

The amazing part about this streak was the fact Leafs used all 4 Goalies in the rotation. Andersen, Murray & Bibeau all got 2 games a piece and Rookie Kaskisuo got to taste some NHL experience with his one game (Also being the first time he's played in the NHL Level). Each goalie played well and were undefeated in the stretch.

Bibeau and Kaskisuo were sent back down to the Marlies after the games as expected, while Andersen will get the starting role again this season, but Murray expected to get anywhere between 20-30 games this season. Also we can't cut out an appearance from either Bibeau or Kaskisuo down the stretch of the 82 games (Injuries or just to give time at the level).

GM Gilmour made that clear "We have 4 goalies that showed up this preseason. It's obviously hard when that happens." but finished off with "Andersen and Murray were key parts to our Stanley Cup raising this past season and are NHL Caliber goalies. They'll be getting the time respectively, but don't be surprised when and if Bibeau or Kaskisuo get a call up to get some more experience at the NHL level."

Jake Gardiner Impresses Many.
As preseason comes to an end and the regular season on the way, many expected Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, Morgan Rielly, and so on to be the headline topics. Yes they did well, but one name impressed all this preseason and that name being Jake Gardiner.

Coach Gary Roberts split a lot of time to a few defenceman he wanted to give a chance to. With that being said, Jake Gardiner only played in 4 games during the preseason. The reason not being because he wasn't performing, but the total opposite. In the 4 games Gardiner played in he collected a astonishing 4 Goals and 5 Assists. He was 1 point behind Mitch Marner (GP:7, G:4, A:6) preseason leader for the Leafs.

Coach Gary Roberts spoke highly about his third line defenceman. "He came out and proved he wanted to play." Gardiner has been criticized for his play before being "Lazy" at times and "Not Consistent". GM Gilmour said "Hopefully this is a sign that Gardiner will give the fans more faith in his play." and also adding "We know what type of player Gardiner can be. That's why he has been here for the last 7 years."
