I'd like to thank all of your for voting, it was another successful balloting and I'm extremely happy to have a group of GMs who are willing to put the time and effort that goes into something like this. Thanks guys!

We had a total of 21 ballots cast, including a couple from past GMs, which is similar to our number of ballots from each of the past 2 years (22 in 2016, 21 in 2015). After only inducting one player last year, we had 4 guys garner enough votes to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame. The four who will be entering the USBA Hall of Fame are: Chad Fore (who is getting in on his 3rd official ballot after just missing each of the last 2 years), and first-ballot Hall of Famers Demarion Rhodes, Ron Buckwalter, and Bill Burke.

Pruden Fernandez, Bernardo Ibanez, Alberto Macedo, Luke Kalakaua, Tim Culp, and Jeb Clines were all spurned again. After finishing 1 vote shy last year, Macedo falls off to 57% (2 votes shy). Fernandez and Ibanez continue to see their percentages rise and my be in for an induction soon. Kalakaua and Culp seem to have leveled off and haven't seen any real increase in percentage the last year while Jeb Clines seems to be losing steam for some reason (he ranks top 2 among catchers all-time in H, HR, RBI, R, and BB; 3rd in OBP and OPS).

Here's a look at the final tally:2017 USBA Hall of Fame Voting - StatsLab for OOTP11

There were 6 guys who failed to get a vote and will fall off the ballot, hoping that the veteran's committee will one day have pity on them:
  • Tommy Kennedy - winner of 2 Gold Gloves at 2B and 2 titles; along with 4 all-star apps
  • Juval Pizarro - 4-time Gold Glove winner at 2B and 4-time all-star
  • Joel Rome - Didn't win any seasonal awards but did win a title with HOU and was a 6-time all-star
  • Bruce Valentine - Like Rome, didn't win any season awards but has a ring and 5 all-star apps
  • Neal Washington - 1 GG, 1 ring, 1 all-star app
  • James Whitaker - 2-time all-star with 1 Gold Glove and a ring

USBA: Hall of Fame: Class of 2018

Another successful round of Hall of Fame balloting with 23 ballots cast! Thank you once again for all that you guys do to make this one of the longest running OOTP leagues.

Our 23 ballots mark a record for Hall of Fame voting (21 in 2017, 22 in 2016, and 21 in 2015)! We keep with our pace of enshrining about 3 players per season with the newest 3 members marking our 13th enshrined member in 4 seasons using the StatsLab utility. The three enshrine-es are:
Raleigh Hoover: getting in on his 2nd year on the ballot after being on just 4 ballots a year ago, he was on all but 4 this year.
Jeb Clines: makes it in his 4th year on the ballot, after falling just short in 2015 and 2016, then seeing his support wain in 2017
Tim Culp: makes it in on his 4th balloting after gaining support each of the past 2 years

Lowell Burger, Pruden Fernandez, Isaac Infante, Alberto Macedo, and Drew Cane all fall just shy of making it in this year. Fernandez and Macedo seem to be right on the edge every season. Ibanez and Kalakaua both saw their support fall a bit in 2018.

Here are the final results: Hall of Fame Voting History - StatsLab for OOTP11

Six players fail to garner a vote and fall off the ballots, and will have to rely on the veteran's committee to have a shot to make it into the hall:
  • Freddy Cello - 2000 all-star, 187-133 record with 3.26 ERA and 1.13 WHIP
  • James Clark - 3-time all-star, 157-121, 3.56 ERA, 1.08 WHIP
  • Derek Lowenstein - 1996 all-star, 161-140, 3.40 ERA, 1.00 WHIP
  • Ben Rawlings - 7-time all-star, 2000 hits, 300 HR, 1300 RBI and R, 1200 BB (probably best credentials of the 12 who have fallen off the balloting)
  • Joe Richter - 2007 all-star, .311 career average but just 1300 hits
  • Keith Starcher - 4-time all-star, back-to-back Bronze Arms, 178-188, 3.64 ERA, 1.25 WHIP; if you could get into the hall for a 4-year run, Starcher would be in for his '04-'07 run

Well, the USBA is still full as only 1 GM left and a former GM steps back into the league with another former GM on the waiting list. The waiting list isn't very long, only 3 guys, so we're always looking for potential GMs to add to the waiting list :)

Some interesting times in the USBA as we enter our 35th season in business. The Chicago franchise won it's 3rd championship but the GM promptly left for Las Vegas so he could move the Scorpions (a team who has struggled historically) to Long Island, sparking off a number of GM team swaps, with 5 GMs changing teams in total. We'll have 2 teams relocate in the next 2 seasons, the first teams to relocate in 25 years!

Original owner of the Detroit franchise, Herb DeSpain, is putting together a ranking of the 24 USBA franchises over the first 34 seasons of USBA baseball, in celebration of the league's 35th anniversary. Thanks Herb!

USBA: Hall of Fame: Class of 2019

Probably not going to get a lot of traffic over here anymore, but I'll post it anyway to keep the thread active.

Voting was down just a touch, but we still had 20 of a possible 24 votes cast, one less than we had cast in 2017. It is the lowest we've had, but 20 is still a good number when a couple of guys that didn't vote are very busy or without internet right now. I really can't say enough for all that you guys do to make this one of the longest running OOTP leagues, thanks again!

The class of 5 ties the record while using the utility, set by the first induction back in 2015. All five of these guys have been on the ballot since 2015 and have flirted with induction at some point in the past. The 5 make 18 inductions in the last 5 seasons.
Lowell Burger: After getting just 28% and 27% of votes in 2015 and 2016, Burger started gaining momentum in 2017 with 33% and he jumped up to 61% last year, falling just one vote short of induction.
Brent Calloway: The Robber was on less than a quarter of the ballots in 2015 and 2016, but like Burger started gaining momentum in 2017 with 33% and then was on 40% of the ballots last year before jumping up to 65% this year, just squeaking in.
Pruden Fernandez: Pruden got 48% in 2015 and 50% in 2016 and fell just one vote short of induction in both 2017 and 2018 before being named on 90% of the ballots this year.
Bernardo Ibanez: Ibanez steadily climbed from 48% in 2015 to 57% in 2017 before dipping down to 52% last year. I thought that may be a sign that he would never get in, but support for him rallied and he was named on 90% of the ballots in 2019.
Alberto Macedo: He was named on 43% of ballots in 2015 then very nearly was inducted in 2016, falling 1 vote short. He would slip to 2 votes shy of induction in 2016 and came up 1 short again in 2018 before finally breaking through with 75% of the ballots this year.

Once again Dean Cowden, Isaac Infante, Luke Kalakaua, Kennith Moise, and Mario Mayo have strong support but fall just short. Cowden, Kalakaua, and Moise have been fighting to get in all 5 years while Infante and Mayo have fallen just short in 2 bids. Support for USBA Save leader Drew Cane wavered a little, but he was still on 50% of the ballots. On the other hand, support for Vance and Etienne grew slightly. Steve Lawrence had a good showing in his first season on the ballot, with 11 votes.

Here are the final results:
http://www.usbaonline.net/StatsLab/h....php?year=2019

For the first time since we started using StatsLab, zero players were eliminated from balloting with all 44 candidates receiving at least 1 vote.

Two open teams in the USBA, please email, PM, or PM on the SimNation forums if interested.

http://www.usbaonline.net/reports/ne...demons_110.png
Denver has been a solid team the past few years but is at a crossroads, is it time to attempt to re-tool and stay competitive or is a full blown re-build in order?

http://www.usbaonline.net/reports/ne...andits_110.png
In Birmingham, a team that dominated the 90s and early 2000s has fallen on hard times the past 3-5 years and is in the process of a rebuild. Some of the parts are in place, and they were expected to be competitive last year but had a very disappointing season.
