Any way to create an authentic NHL game?

Is there any way to create an authentic modern NHL game - meaning after year 1 you can add Las Vegas as an expansion team and play with 31 teams??

It seems you only have the option to expand by 2 teams so I was wondering if there was any mode you could customize this in.

I don't understand when you strive to add every little, tiny detail of authenticity into a game - why you wouldn't allow the user to have a mode where were can have an authentic 2017 NHL. Literally, after one year the game becomes fantasy instead of simulation.

I've seen the reply posted enough times that I figured I would do my best and answer. Because the game is now NHL licensed, they cannot add in an official expansion option automatically because the Las Vegas team does not have a name or logo. I believe that it has been said that once the team has a name and logo they will try to add in an automatic expansion feature.

With the NHL license, it's a little complicated for us to do something like that until there's more official information about the franchise (and there are some other challenges involved in making single-team expansion work.). Fortunately, they're apparently planning to announce the name, among other things, in early November, so we should be able to do more after that. We definitely don't plan to ignore the situation, but it's too early to say exactly what we'll be doing.

Thanks, I was talking about Sandbox mode though - you are only allowed to expand by two teams? not one...

This is the NHL we're talking about, and they've been screwing up simple math for years.

32 teams is pretty easy to do in a generic sense. 31 teams just doesn't happen except in the NHL's version of reality, where some games are worth 3 points in the standings, and some only 2.

Even if FHM didn't hold the NHL license, they'd need to wait to see just how a 31 team league is going to work.
