DH Games - Optional DH - Let the Pitcher Bat in OOTP 15

Hopefully OOTP 15 will allow managers to have the pitcher bat in DH games.

Never gonna happen.

Maybe you'd care to elaborate on this statement. The fact is that it has happened IRL, It will Happen again IRL and It should be able to happen in OOTP. I for one, enjoy drafting and using 2-way prospects in the minor leagues and not being able to allow these players to bat when they are pitching in minor leagues that have the DH is very annoying.

I'm just wondering why you say "Never Gonna Happen" without giving any justification for the statement, Is there an actual reason this "will never happen" or is this just your opinion?

I have had a few instances where I had to remove the DH due to injury and make pitcher bat. Not been able to prior game without unchecking that option for DH.

There are lots of things that I would like to have added to the game but aren't really that important.

This is a pretty important issue that needs to be corrected. The DH rule is not simulated correctly by OOTP.

The only way to have the pitcher bat in a DH game wastes two players, and doesn't record the game as a start for the starting pitcher.

IRL the DH is optional.

Would also like to see option for "home manager choice" as a league DH rule.

That would be quite cool for sure.

What do you mean exactly? That the manager would decide if he's using the DH or Pitcher for at-bats?

Yes. Prior to the start of the game the home team's manager declares whether this contest will be played under current AL or current NL DH rules. At any time your roster needs to be constructed to account for either DH rule, you can't just assume you do/don't need a DH, PHers for pitchers, double switches, etc. for any game.

This is an unambiguous case of the DH increasing both strategy and the complexity of the manager's job.

That's not the MLB rule. The rule is that the leagues determine whether a DH can be used. Then it's up to each manager to determine if they will use the DH for a given game.

The workaround also breaks the DH rule.

- Add a dummy DH player, add a dummy pitcher.
- As soon as the game begins switch the DH to - . Then change DH position to P. That replaces the pitcher with the formerly DH.
- Place the desired SP into the P slot.

The DH rules in MLB state that the DH listed in the starting lineup must bat at least once, unless the opposing team changes pitchers.

Nobody ever said manager's choice was the current MLB rule.

Is there a setting for this somewhere in the game now or is it just supposed to happen automatically if the pitcher is a good enough batter?

Or was Markus just agreeing to the hopefullness of it?
