Player loses his postion skill?
I adopted a last place team so I've been having to make do with whatever players I can get, especially aging veterans who are not good at much other than hitting just lefties. During the offseason I was examining my roster to see if I had any oldsters that I could trade away for prospects and noticed that one of my guys had lost his fielding position! He had stats for range and arm but no skills at a position.
Does this mean he got too little playing time and his skills withered away? There's no DH in my league and I can't afford to keep a pinch hitter on the roster so I traded him. |
It means his fielding ratings have fallen below the minimum requirement for the position, likely due to age-related decline.

As said before plus he might not have experience at the positions he could still qualify for say 1B. In another thread about what makes a good 1B I posted a link to a chart another forum member posted a long time ago. That has minimum ratings to qualify for a position in it.

I don't understand why older players lose all ratings, though. It seems to me they should be left with at least a 1 at their main position.
