Share your OOTP Spreadsheets!
A thread about how to stay engaged in fictional leagues started off very well, and lots of folks shared great ways to make fictional leagues more "real" for the player. Then, the thread derailed. But it derailed in such a fascinating way that it deserves its own thread.
Share your homemade OOTP spreadsheets. Upload them if you can. If you can't (haven't checked the forum rules), I can set up a public FTP for them. I know that very few of us document them, so explain a little bit about what they do and how they work. Don't worry about getting too technical- it seems that there are a great many Excel jockeys on this board. Me, I do this kind of thing for work. And I'm embarrassed to say that I only have one sheet that I use to help me create universes- calculates market size and financials as well as just mapping out my farm systems. I will upload my meager contribution when I get home. But I want to see yours! Share! |
This is going to end up as my favorite OOTP thread ever.

Here's one of mine, just a simple little spreadsheet for keeping track of your 1st Round picks. It's easy to expand and just has a few categories like the year they retired, titles they won, and WAR accumulated throughout their career. I also have a little table to the right where after 10 years I do a redraft based on how I think they should've went given their career to that point. Makes for some interesting observations on draft busts and 8th round sleepers.
Looks like you can only attach Excel files if you Zip them first, which is fine by me. |

My yearly Scores and Schedule file.
(looks like I have to move these to Drive. I will post them later) |
I too use spreadsheets a ton to plan out fictional leagues. This may be hard to read, but its a screenshot of my planned out league based on the early history of the NBA from 1946-1980. I moved everything back two decades and have been slowly making my way through the years. The left column is just notes on the logo sets I use for each team that is based on the real NBA team that existed. And then there are some other notes, the planned ABA rivalry for a few years, and then adding minors along the way.

This is a spreadsheet I've developed to calculate market size. It's applicable to major US cities through 2010 and Canadian cities through 2006 (I need to update that). Files are in OpenOffice format.

I do wonder how you can do this stuff and put it on spreadsheet like what you guys have done over the years. I have had this game since season ticket and I never really thought to try it although I have seen countless people doing that.

Interesting template, certainly more involved than mine. Any chance I can get just one tab of the basic premise of your team previews? No data needs to be filled in or any formulas, don't think I'd be able to figure them out anyhow, just like how clean it looks at the categories. Here's my Top 10 Best Players from each franchise template. I kept a couple teams filled so you can see the template. It should be easy to add teams, change colors and logos (just right click and hit 'Change Picture' to keep the same proportion), and fill it out yourselves. |
I've moved everything to Google Sheets, so I've taken my position reports and made it viewable:

Note: I play in God mode so I don't have GM-based reports at this time. I'll keep posting more templates as I create them! |

My season roster file.
Note: it links to another file required to run the formulas. Season Roster Ratings Scale File (needed for Season Roster to work right) |
Preseason Team Preview file
note: needs rating scale detail file from above Team Previews http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...lipboard01.jpg http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...lipboard02.jpg |
Thanks a lot Rizon! Going to look into those files and see what sort of mess I can get myself in... further down the rabbit hole I go...

typically you should have an input/output worksheet and as many work worksheets as required. keep the mess in the work worksheet and have a nice formatted, succinct and organized I/O worksheet. |
