It's been a while since we've had one of these posts, but it seems like a good idea now. If you're having any questions regarding Franchise Hockey Manager 6, rather than create a brand new post, feel free to ask a question here!

If you have the ability to draft them turned on, they appear as Free Agents.

Is there any way to have a unlimited NHL roster so I can play my prospects, recent draft picks, ect so I can have a clue on setting my final roster prior to regular season? Thanks.

Is there away to edit a player's history?

When I start with an expansion team, my workaround for the entry draft is to take players from other teams. I would like to edit the history screen so I can change the drafting team to my new team.

I know the rosters don't have to be at 23 during pre season, so I not sure what you mean by "unlimited". I generally just dress the prospects that are closest to being NHL ready.

I don't think you can exactly do this, but you could use the Search bar at the top of the main screen (click on the magnifying glass) and say look at all the D in your given league by searching it and then using the arrow keys to get a quick glance.

Rosters are unlimited during the preseason, but you still can't have more than 50 contracts on a team. If you don't have someone signed (say a prospect), you can offer than a PTO to come to camp.

I am having a brain cramp, how do I set the lineups, I have tried drag & drop right/left clicking. I do have me in the coach options to set the lineups. Sorry to ask a dumb question.

Yes. The frequency will vary according to the head coach's preferences.

Not a question, but a suggestion...add a fan morale boost for making the playoffs, since there's a drop in fan morale for a playoff series loss.

If you have a fastspring version, there is an issue with drag and drop currently that we are working on fixing. Right now you have to click in the checkmark boxes and then click on the lineup spot.

Also need to dress the players you want to play first - first column on roster screen. It can be tricky to see at first.

Player protected list
 
I am getting ready for the expansion draft and the manual reads teams will automatically protect players. How many do they protect ? on the league rules screen it defaults to -90-. I have no idea what this means ? Teams don't have that many players to protect. Need a bit of help here - - thanks.
ie; can we set how many players teams will protect for the draft as in past versions such as 15 or 18 etc...

Hi all, I have a question that is probably so obvious. I'm trying to play my first pre-season game but I'm getting the error message that there are not enough goalies. I have slotted two goalies into my starting line-up so at a bit of a loss of what to do. What am I missing? Thanks in advance :)

Are they dressed? Is one playing International games?

When looking for team staff, is there any way to sort trainer candidates by Trainer Skill on the Free Agent menu?

***Never mind, I found it. It's labeled "Physio," which is why I didn't catch it at first.

I saw an older video of FHM, I think it was FHM3, there was a momentum meter that swung back and forth during the game. I don't see that in FHM6. Was it removed? And if so, is momentum still modeled in the background for the simulation engine?

What happened to Front Office on League Controls
 
There is no Front Office on the League Control menu. The manual states that there is but it is nowhere to be seen. The only way to look at current free agents is to go to league home...roster...free agents.....

I don't believe you can change it. It's typically the same.

It's more in the background now again instead of visual.

We switched in to align with OOTP. It's now "Transactions". I'll pass it on to Jeff to see if we can get it updated.

Yes, it was removed, it was part of the older tactics/coaching system that was replaced in FHM5.

You can go to Free Agent Center in your teams drop down menu.

Something I noticed during the last stream you guys did ... Jarmo Myllys was second in the NHL in save percentage on April 6 of 1997, and his team was listed as the Rochester Red Wings (I presume?).

Are minor leaguers included in the NHL stat leaders? Or did the game combine Myllys's numbers with Rochester and Detroit? Just found this to be a little unusual.

Are there some roles that work well with others and some that conflict with each other?

Trying to figure out if I just pick the best role for a player or if I select it based upon what his line mate's roles are.

I expanded the league and my team had no farm teams? I know in FHM 5 they automatically showed up. How do we get farm teams for expansion teams now?

Add them to another league via the structure editor for that league, then on your expansion team's team edit screen, set the new minor league team as one of its two farm teams.

They're listed with the team they're currently with, so if a player makes the leaderboard and then is sent to the minors, they'll show the minor league abbreviation until he gets called up or pushed out of the leaders. It's only counting the stats for the displayed league, not both leagues.

If I play historical with evolution disabled and once I start the 1967-68 season there wouldn't be a problem with a 6 team expansion?

Editing questions:
If i edit say a 38 year old player and make them a 20 year old, change all of his attributes including his potential ratings, will this player develop like any other 20 year old?

No, at 38 it's almost certain that the start of his decline has been triggered, so his ratings will still go down despite the age change.

If they're under contract, only if you give them additional coaching time via the training screen. If they're not, i.e. you're an NHL team with them in camp via a tryout, then yes, it will help it unless your coaching is somehow worse than the team they're normally on.

I was told in another thread that when I couldn't start an historical league(1925) with disabled evolution and it said can't open folder then I did delete some stuff off my PC (recommended by JeffR)and it still wouldn't work but it did work for 1967 historical so it can't be for a lack of memory on my PC .

How do I add/distract/swap teams in historical mode? I now you can only do this only on July 1, but cant seem to find the right setting. Suppose I want to keep the Senators in the NHL in 1934, I don't see a possibility to do so in the offseason. I would like to change the divisions too.Thanks.

Edit: already found it, had to check box of league evolution.

The contract expiry status can't be edited directly, but if you just add his rights to a team on July 1 when he becomes a free agent, that'll turn him into a RFA for that league.

On July 1, on the league menu choose the Edit option (at the bottom), then the Structure tab on that screen.

Couple of questions before I think about buying the game:

1. Are column widths customizable? I still see the HUGE gap between team name or player name and the first statistical column. It'd be nice if that was smaller to make the page easier to read.

2. Regarding Corsi (or shot attempts, whatever you like to call it) I understand that goals and penalty minutes, for example, are pretty close to what the NHL is doing right now, but how do shot attempts compare? There seems to be a pretty heavy, almost 50% higher rate, of blocked shots that I've seen reported. How much higher is the shot attempt rate than what is being seen in the NHL?

Don't believe there's any way to edit the column width and the shots seem pretty close from what I've seen with teams generally averaging in the 30's. Right now in my franchise, the Sharks are averaging the highest at 38 per game and the Islanders the lowest at 29.

I understand shots are where they are, I am asking about shot attempts. Here is the link to Natural Stat Trick looking at team rates normalized to /60 minutes for all stats. The columns labeled "CF" and "CA" are Corsi FOR and Corsi AGAINST which is a measure of shot attempts, so its a total of shots on goal, shots that go wide, and shots that are blocked. Its essentially a measure of possession. With the block rate as high as we are seeing, I am asking if the shot attempts / game rates are anywhere near the NHL average.

While from what I'm seeing from end of season stats things look pretty good, not pin point accurate, but solid for a sim. I don't think total shots attempted is tracked in the game, just shots on goal, which seem to match up well. From my season stats from my first year of my franchise, Suter had 156 total blocks. Last year he had 109 in reality, just at even strength, so I don't think the shot block totals are really that high.

Hi! wanted to ask: If i mostly simulate my games, is allocating points to the " in game tactics " slot useless, or does it somehow influence what happens during games even if i simulate them. thx

Thanks. My game is crashing repeatedly on 'go to next day' though, after I enter the (new) leaderboard/standings screen.

Only if you're playing as GM-only. If you're GM/Head Coach, it will still have an effect in games even if you're simulating them.

-Did you generate a new schedule after adding/removing teams? Not having done that usually won't cause a crash, but could in some circumstances.

If it's not those, then could you upload the save (instructions here) and we'll have a look at it to see what's wrong?

Thanks, last time it worked, so it's not always happening. I generated a new schedule and draft, yes. I see if I can upload save later.
