Historical Mode Prospects

I am new to the game and still trying to figure things out. I was playing the 2000 Expansion draft got through the Expansion and the Entry drafts, but now don't know what to do with my prospects as they are all appearing as Free Agents.

I would prefer they go back to Europe or North American Juniors, but that doesn't seem to be an option so do I leave them as free agents do they still develop properly. Should I sign them and put them in the minors that seems kind of odd having a bunch of 18 year olds in the minors plus I can't control the minor team so some prospects may not even get ice time.

Lastly I had heard about the reserve list is this the best option If I sign all of my prospects and put them on there will I end up with too many contracts. Do I pick and choose which prospects go on, but then what would happen with the ones that remain Free Agents.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

So because Historical Mode has only the NHL playable at that point, they can't really go back to Europe or the Juniors. The downside is it looks like they aren't playing games. The upside is they will still develop and you'll get faster sim times.

Really it's up to you what you want to do. Typically the higher prospects I will bring in and put on a minor league team. (But this really only matters if you're using the FHM Development engine and not the recalculation).

The reserve list was more for previously when we didn't have a minor league team to send players to. Players still develop, they just won't accrue and statistics because they aren't playing games. It's not a bad place to put some prospects as well.
