Frustrated with Trades
 
I have been playing OOTP for a while, but I have never mastered how to accomplish decent trades.

Often I receive emails for trades from other managers, however, they always seem to be bad deals. When I try to negotiate with the other team to get a better deal, it never seems to work out.

It would be great if someone could create a YouTube video that goes in depth on how to accomplish trades on normal settings in a MLB game. No one has made a video like this as far as I know, and I am sure it would help a lot of people.

I think this would be a great idea. At one time I felt the same way as you did, I feel a lot better about my ability to trade after last year. I did more trading last year then I had ever before. There is always room to learn though.

99% of the time, I take any offers I get from other managers as starting points. I almost never just accept a deal outright. There are a bunch of factors you can change to get a better deal. Retaining/ask to retain money, prospects of varying quality being added, and draft picks, if you have that enabled. You can see how close you are to a deal just by hitting the "make this work now" button. If it comes back and they're asking for your best player, you're not even close to a deal. But messing with it for a bit can usually get you to a point where you can add a prospect or two, or a draft pick, and you can get a deal done. Also, use the little chart that shows what positions the teams are weak at. Adding a player at a position that the other team really needs will move things along quicker.
