Sad news - Francis Cole

Unfortunately I have some bad news to share.

Francis Cole, the initial developer of our football game project, has passed away yesterday.

Francis was an awesome human being who had a positive influence on everyone who met him. He was always positive despite his health struggles throughout his life and helped others in his community who suffered with similar conditions.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family and firends.

Francis, you will always be on our mind, we will miss you. You will always be part of our team, no matter where you are. Rest in peace.

The entire OOTP Developments family.

I remember when I first saw the development for this game announced, with Francis answering several questions. He seemed so excited and ready for the project and his enthusiasm just permeated through the forum. His passing really is too soon and I'm sorry for his family and friends who I'm sure we're impacted in the same way by his presence.

Heartbreaking news.

Let's hope OOTP can carry on Francis's vision of a Football sim as a tribute to him. In fact, if it does come out, maybe it could be dedicated to him.

Very sad news indeed and the Sports Interactive team have been sharing some funny stories and pictures from the time Fran spent working in our London Studio. I've attached a pic of Fran with one of the team from around 2005 - some fond memories.

A great guy, incredibly positive given his health issues. RIP Franny

Geez, what a bummer! I remember how friendly he was and how openly he shared the status of the game and answered questions. I have missed him.

There's only one good way to honor his memory: to make a football game better than anything that's been done before.

Terrible news. It was amazing how positive he was on the forums during the whole ordeal. RIP.

Agreed. Not that it is that important right now but I do think that when the game comes out it should keep the name BTS or something paying homage to Francis, considering it is something he cared a lot about.
