DevTracker for OOTPX

There's a thread here discussing the DevTracker for OOTPX.

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ml#post2776864

I'll start this thread so we don't clutter up the main board. Please post any problems/comments here.

Download here.

To follow up on my other post, I was referring to the Instructions screen. When I close that screen I get the standard 'has encountered a problem and needs to close, blah blah blah.' The only thing I gain by checking the 'Do Not Show Again' box is that I go straight to the crash without any need to click OK. All I did was unzip all files into a folder and run the executable. I don't know if there was something different I should be doing or not.

Nope, that's all you should have to do.

I don't get that crash, though.

Are you running Vista?
Did you ever try running the old DevTracker that worked with OOTP 9, or is this your first time trying this out?

Neags23 07-09-2009 11:51 AM

I think this may be a Vista thing.

I just had someone try to open it on Vista, and they got the same thing.

Ugh, stupid Vista. I'm not sure how to fix this right now, but I'll look into it.

Wrathchild 07-09-2009 11:54 AM

Unfortunately, I'm running XP SP 2. This is also my first incarnation of OOTP so I have no previous experience with this utility. I could paste what is included in the error log that it wants to send to Microsoft but I don't know if that would be any help.

Neags23 07-09-2009 11:57 AM

Damn, it's with XP?

Hmm.. maybe I didn't include all the files I should've. I'll put up a new set of files in a few min. I'll repost the link.

Sorry for the trouble and thanks for the patience in letting me figure it out!

Neags23 07-09-2009 12:00 PM

Okay, new file here.

Wrathchild 07-09-2009 12:03 PM

No problem. I'm glad to be able to help you figure this out in any way I can. Who knows? Maybe it's just my system and not your app at all.

Wrathchild 07-09-2009 12:06 PM

Downloaded the new file and extracted the contents. It seems there were more files in this one than the previous one. Regardless, I'm still getting the same crash when running the executable. Is someone that can confirm that it is working correctly for them?

Neags23 07-09-2009 12:10 PM

Yeah, there were supposed to be more files. I didn't think it needed the other's in the first download, but maybe I was wrong.

I tried this on a separate machine (it was actually a Windows Server 2003) and it worked fine.

As for why it's still crashing for you... is there anything different about your system? Like maybe you're using a d: drive instead of a c: drive?

Ooh, one thing I didn't think about... do you have the .net 3.5 framework installed? I would think it would give you a message if you didn't, but maybe not.

Neags, I'm running Vista. I'll try and run the program and see what happens.

Thanks! I'm fairly confident it'll bomb for you :( . I'll have to commandeer my wife's laptop that has Vista and do some debugging on it tonight.

Thanks for trying it, though! Just make sure you download from the link here. That download contains many more files. I'm not 100% sure they're needed, but doesn't hurt to have them.

I'd suggest adding that link to the original post (or your sig as you've done in the past) so there's always a current application available through that link without having to search for the latest iteration.

Beat ya to it, EG. Already updated. Thanks, though!

Neags23 07-09-2009 12:31 PM

By the way, EG, I know past versions of DevTracker have worked for you.

Have you tried this latest edition? Please tell me it doesn't crash for at least one person.

Have you updated the original post in this thread to include a link? I always found your sig to be most convenient location.

It'll have to be tonight before I can check it out, but I will. The older version didn't run without error, but it succeeded in running and accomplishing what I was after the majority of the time. I'll provide details when I can get an uninterrupted look.

Thanks again for your contributions.

Probably a good call. I just didn't want someone downloading the half finished version not knowing it's not yet finished. But I'll just have to include that as a caveat.

Thanks. And please feel free to throw any errors at me. I actually haven't run into an error with the old version in over 6 months. But we all have different league setups, so it'd be nice to catch those bugs.

Wrathchild 07-09-2009 12:45 PM

Looks like it was the version of .NET I was running. Upgraded to 3.5 and everything seems to be running now! I'll mess around a little bit more and make sure it's ok. This app only looks at the major league level?

Sweet!

No, the DevTracker looks at all levels of your organization. The team selector box only includes the parent teams.

When you run the program for a particular team, the results grid will display all players in your organization with a change.

Getch 07-09-2009 12:47 PM

Neags, did you handle the movement/stuff issue? Currently, the .csv files export the internal movement and stuff for the pitcher, not the one you see in the player report which factors in GB% and velocity (and probably other stuff). My dev tracker for online leagues is in limbo until I can get this conversion in somehow...
