Crazy Scores in First Week of New Minor League

I have just added a AA league to my fictional British league game, and having not had enough free agents to fill all the rosters I decided to create a load of young, 50% developed players to make free agents for teams to sign.

I did that because having previously filled rosters with fictional players, I ended up with some teams fortunately getting a star player handed to them.

After four days' play, the two sub-leagues in AA have 8.39/7.57 league ERA and .316/.312 league average! There have been some remarkable scores including a 19-18 game which saw the home team score 8 in the 9th to tie the game. Incidentally, the attendance for that game was recorded as 19 despite my having set the league average at 250...

As the league totals in Strategy seem in line with my other leagues (all modifiers at 1.000), and suggest an ERA of .266, are these high scores likely to be caused by the inexperience of the new players?

I'm assuming you mean Avg.? (If not your pitchers are amazing!) Do you have the automatically adjust to match league totals checked? If not you might be having some crazy stats in the minors- it is also possible that your PCMs got set to favor hitting and hate pitching, perhaps in the Sabermetric PCMs?

I did indeed mean AVG! I have tried changing the league total modifiers and tried with and without match league totals selected, and tried with both young free agents and filling rosters with fictional players. Sabermetric PCMs appear to be fine.

The best I have been able to do is to get the league ERA for the two subleagues around 5 - higher than my major league or AAA but not ridiculously high and most of the projected stats look plausible, no really crazy season totals.

I think I will have to go with that, play out the first season and see what happens.
