but there were no lf and rf bleachers in the 1909 version.....just the bleacher going down left field foul line...100 ft to the back stop...The curved grandstand down the rightfield line will be there also.

New Sportsman's Park (1893-1899) (aka Union Park)
League Park (1899-1911)
Cardinal Field (1917-1920)

In 1899, Von der Ahe sold the Browns to Frank and Stanley Robison. By then the ballpark was no longer the "New" Sportsman's Park. During the Robison's tenure, the venue was simply called League Park. It would bear that name through the 1910 season.

The Robison brothers sought to change the image and reverse the fortunes of their team. They dropped the old "Browns" identity, abandoning that team color and switching to Cardinal red. This would yield a new and lasting nickname. However, for 1899 they are known to historians as the "Perfectos".

Helene Britton, daughter of Frank Robison, inherited the Cardinals team and the ballpark from her uncle Stanley upon his death in 1911. Helene renamed the ballpark Robison Field as a memorial to her father (who had died in 1908) and her uncle. She held the club for next few seasons, until selling her interest in the team in 1917 to a group that included Sam Breadon.

Looking awesome, Knight. Great job. Oh, I wanted to ask you why you stopped on the Navin project. Just wondered.

knight1376 08-14-2016 03:55 PM

Navin PK.............

Zappa.....good question.....Iam going to review that.....

knight1376 08-14-2016 04:01 PM

Navin Field...........

Zappa....I think I was always determined to do Exposition Pk. Wanted to get that one done.....after Robison is done Iam going to do Navin....rather Bennet Pk...........I figured out Bennet was built in 1901 as an all wood park..............Navin was partially steel and was built in 1912 on the same spot.....eventually it all evolved into Tiger Sta. on the same site..

knight1376 08-14-2016 04:20 PM

by the way........

the outfield wall in Robison will be entirely covered by ads....just like it was............found plenty of signs online. Will just take a bigger effort, because each sign has to be exploded and tested inside game to ensure it doesn't come in black. Some signs for some reason do that.

zappa1 08-14-2016 04:54 PM

Hope the signs work out ok. Somebody posted some info on Washington Park in Brooklyn on the wooden parks thread. Lots of info on it. Seems you are starting to get some requests. That's a good sign. :woohoo:
