The Texas Rangers

Back to my roots.

In OOTP18, I began this and had two seasons played out before the laptop it was on became unusable. My old game file is unrecoverable but I want to do this again. Was the most fun I had with OOTP.

I will start in 1972 focusing on the Texas Rangers but will also keep up with all of Major League Baseball.

If anyone wants, feel free to post in replies cheering for your own team during this little excursion.

Default settings. No minor leagues. Amateur Draft in December. No historical lineups or transactions. Just consider it an alternate reality to the real life baseball we witnessed.

I'm up for this. But, man, you sure picked a bad time to ride with the Strangers.

I just read Seasons In Hell, which covers the Rangers from 1972 to 1975, but it mostly focuses on 1973 and 74.

I'm here to give you encouragement. You're gonna need it.

Probably the nicest thing that could have happened to him.

Blowing the 7-3 lead in the bottom of the ninth in Oakland was so crushing.

Not as devastating as what is happening in Cincinnati. 0-10? How are the Reds 0-10?

Some great starts in Houston and Kansas City though. As well as San Francisco and St Louis.

As for David Clyde, pretty good chance he doesn't even wind up on the Rangers in this replay.

The Atlanta Braves have suspended SP Tom Kelley one game for showing up at the ballpark 30 minutes late.

What a lazy punishment. The Braves played a doubleheader on the day they suspended a starting pitcher *ONE* game for showing up late. It probably wasn't even his day to pitch.

Yeah, that was pretty funny. And you are right. The suspension was on his day off.

Maybe the lack of discipline is why the Braves are so bad.

To be fair, Mike Schmidt was a skinny 22-year old utility infielder who probably hadn't even grown his mustache yet.

Now I imagine the Phillies manager sniggering to the other players about how this Steve Carlton fella is acting mighty big for his britches.
