Okay, I had a vague understanding of the hockey fashion thread. But... I will freely admit that I have no clue what any of this is to be about.

When your 290 lbs and putting a lot of torque on thin shoe materials it can happen.

You'd think Nike knew that.

According to Nike it's a rare occurrence, I'm betting it's ever rarer as their stock dropped. Only 1% but I'm betting none of us would turn down 1% of Nike.

I think that shoe just made Zion much more valuable to the apparel industry. Think about it........He was already going to be the top priority among shoe companies before this. Imagine how much Nike would be willing to pay him to stick w/Nike? Cause if he doesn't, people are going to point to Wed Night as the cause. Now imagine if you are Puma, Adidas, UnderArmour etc? What a coup and natural blow it would be to the biggest player in the NBA if they could say Zion ditched Nike for their brand because it was better quality.

It turns out this never affected Nike's sales, which actually slightly increased immediately after the incident: Zion's Nike Mishap Had Little Impact on Shoe Sales, Data Show
