Beta Version 3.0.53 Update Now Available
 
The second update for the FHM3 Beta, version 3.0.53, has just been released.

To apply the update, just download the setup file and install it over your current installation. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy! However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course.

Your existing savegames will be compatible with the updated game, but some of the update's fixes may not retroactively correct certain problems in existing saves.

Change List:

Crashing/Freezing:
-crash when clicking on the the International menu while viewing a boxscore fixed
-possible endless loop with end-of-season message fixed

Graphical/Text/UI:
-VAC (Vacation) tag will no longer miss some players during the summer
-the fourth-line forward tactical role popup, which should allow the user to select any tactical role, should now show all of them (was excluding some)
-the staff history screen now shows job staff member was in during the season (so staff with database history as a scout, etc. are shown as such)
-"Show games" being disabled in GM Only fixed
-illness-type injuries will now use the news items specifically for them (they had been using the practice injury news, which led to news reports saying things like players got mononucleosis from running into the boards)

Gameplay Issues:
-re-loading a save will no longer set the Evaluate Potential attribute for all staff to be the same as Evaluate Ability
-game should now generate proper contracts for staff who begin the game with no contract information in the database, rather than $0
-playoff stats no longer disappear after the first season in the roster/leaders stats views
-newly-hired trainers will now appear properly on trainer box of staff page (so no more hiring multiple trainers and having none show up)
-staff no longer get exhibition/playoff stats included in their regular-season histories, seasons now shown with proper names (2016/17 instead of 2016)
-real players in fictional mode now only available if start year is 2016
-injuries adjusted again, should be significantly fewer long-term ones but more short-term ones
-retired players should not occasionally be selected to national teams
-All-Star games now working again
-auto-assign scouts should no longer leave a few scouts unassigned
-the Retreating 1-2-2 defensive tactic should now all the user to select a tactical role for the second defenceman in the pair

Miscellaneous:
-18/19-year-old players under NHL contracts but on CHL teams do not count against NHL contract limits (as in real life - prevents issues with some NHL teams being over the contract limit)
-several role requirement changes made to defenceman tactical roles, particularly defence-oriented ones; should make them a little less popular with the AI, and they're no longer de facto better for the average two-way defenceman than the offense-oriented roles
-generated staff should now get better numbers in the newer ratings (discipline, etc.)
-historical staff now get appropriate ages (no longer all 20-somethings at the beginning)
-QMJHL schedule fixed (had two teams playing the same day)
-data updated in many leagues, which has fixed a variety of data-related issues

A couple of known new issues with stats display: the NHL goaltending stats have their minutes for 2015-16 recorded incorrectly, so the GAA are broken as well, and the sort order of staff histories isn't working properly at the moment. We'll be fixing them, but it wasn't worth holding up a new build for. And one old one: there are a number of retired staff that are still showing as active in the game; this was due to a database editor bug that's just been fixed, so the new data doesn't retire those guys yet. If you want to hire a 133-year-old Lester Patrick for your team, this'll be your last chance before the final pre-release data update fixes him.

Finally, one thing that initially looked like a bug but wasn't: the ratings on the player screen won't necessarily show a visible increase when you get the development report message about them changing. The ratings in those screens are affected by the accuracy of your scouting reports, so even at the highest accuracy level of scouting (i.e. your own players) your scouts may not "agree" that there's been a rating increase.

If you've reported a problem and don't see it on the fixed list, it's most likely still being investigated or worked on.

You have extra " at the end of the PC link hence it doesn't work as it is.

Are the development report messages 100% accurate?


What is the "source" of the development report messages? Seems to me if it's the game/computer itself and development report messages are 100% accurate perhaps to increase realism the development reports should be changed so they go through Coaches and/or Scouts so they're not 100% accurate?

Thanks for the update. Just curious - is windowed mode not working for anyone else with this release? Seems like the game is defaulting to full screen no matter what my settings are. A little annoying considering full screen mode has my task-bar in the way so I need to move it while playing (to be fair it's not a huge deal).

What is your screen resolution? If it is exactly the minimum, then the game will switch to fullscreen, otherwise it will not work properly.

Got it. Yeah I just tried a lower resolution and it's working. It wasn't like this with the last release - at 1920x1080 windowed the game was practically at full screen but vertically scaled down a bit because of the task bar. My bad. Nothing to see here!

Would it be possible to add the ability to save/load Tactics and line combos? It makes it difficult remembering certain tactics when trying out something new when there are injuries but going back to the old tactic when that player returns

I'm having trouble with windowed mode, with a desktop resolution of 1920x1080 (task bar set to auto hide) so the 1920x1080 is available to the game windowed.

I cannot get it to run windowed at any higher then 1440x900.
1680x1050 windowed or 1920x1080 windowed (both of which worked previously) now start up in full screen only.

You could do maximized. Or post your trace file. My guess is that the window borders are to much to use the two mentioned resolutions. In your trace file we can see what the game reports, so just post it.

I canīt have more than 1360*768 in windowed mode.
Before the update i was able to maximise it to cover my whole screen, but still be in windowed mode.

Can't enable Facegen in setup/option in save game, both boxes in the Facegen settings can't check mark them. In Build 50 the Facegen loaded with no problem.

Can't say I'm a fan of this new window sizing restriction. I run my main display 1920x1080, and now can't have FHM in window mode in anything larger than 1600x900.

Is there a technical restriction behind the change? It seemed to be working fine for me previously with a larger window.

I think it is an error. Should be as before after the next update (sorry for the inconvenience!).

Not sure if it could be done exactly that way, at least in a way that's useful - the lineup would need to go back to precisely what it was, so any new injuries or roster movement would be a problem. Might be easier to handle it another way, though, since it definitely is inconvenient to fix them that often.

What about the dead coaches in the available staff section?

I've also ran into Chris Pronger being on staff as well as still being a active player, the player version retires at the end of the first season though but was just curious if these are fixable.
