DYNASTY - 2021 Nashville Predators

The year is 2021, the Jets are the Stanley Cup champions, the Oilers managed to win the cup in 2019, the Blue Jackets are the NHL's most successful team in the latter part of the 2010's, Connor McDavid and a young phenom by the name of Eric Braun are the last two Hart winners, but in this bizarro world success has not come easily to the Nashville Predators. It's been three years since the Predators made the playoffs (as an 8 seed), and with an aging roster that has finished in the bottom 5 in the NHL for the last three years, the future looks bleak in Nashville. And so, beginning in June of 2021, we begin our task of rebuilding the Predators into Stanley Cup champions.

2021 PREDATORS DRAFT

1st round, 4th overall
Pick: Jyrki Antonen, C, Left, 6’0” 171, Blues A Espoo
Boxcars: 42GP 20-28-48 (Jr A SM)

Description: Raw, two way center from Finland. Possessing good instincts in the defensive zone and the tools to be a top offensive talent, Antonen has legitimate first line potential if he can put it all toghether. Very good instincts in his own zone. Has an active stick and will frusturate opponents with his ability to break up plays. Rarely gets caught out of position. Average one on one defender. Poor physical game. Has an accurate shot, but is really only effective with it from the slot. Possesses very good passing skills but below average vision limit his upside as a playmaker. Sometimes struggles to find the open spots on the ice. Great speed coupled with average agility and acceleration make him a good skater. Needs to go to the dirty areas of the ice more often. Needs to get stronger.

Best case Scenario:
1st line center
Worst case Scenario: NHL-AHL tweener

2nd round, 34th overall
Pick: Angus Soquila, LD, Left, 6’0” 159, Portage
Boxcars: 45GP 6-14-20 (MJHL)

Description: Lanky, all-round defenseman from Manitoba. Soquila has a nice package of tools in both the offensive and defensive zone but it is his skating (or lack there of) that will determine whether or not he becomes a legitimate top 4 defenseman or a career minor leaguer. Very good one on one defender. Rarely gets caught out of position. Needs to use his stick better in the defensive zone. Despite his size, plays a very good physical game. Is a good passer and sees the ice well. Has a howitzer for a shot. Poor skater. Projects to have below average speed. Has a slow first three steps. Lets his temper get the best of him too often. Is in okay physical shape.

Best case Scenario: 2nd pairing defenseman
Worst case Scenario: Career AHLer

3rd round, 64th overall
Pick: Niklas Khoroshun, LD, Left, 5’11 148, Vityaz
Boxcars: 3GP 0-0-0 (KHL)

Description: Small, all round defenseman from Russia. With a combination of solid defensive play and average offensive upside, Khoroshun has the tools to be a productive NHLer some day. Has an active stick in the defensive zone and frustrates his opponents with his ability to break up plays. Rarely gets caught out of position and reads the play well in his own zone. Average physical game, but serious concerns about his lack of strength make it hard to project to the NHL level. Good passer but below average vision hamper his offensive upside. Below average shot. Projects to have below average speed at the NHL level, but should make up for it with good edge work. Needs to get a lot stronger. Has decent stamina.

Best case Scenario:
#4 defenseman
Worst case Scenario: Career AHLer

4th round, 94th overall
Pick: Frederic Lundh, LW, Left, 6’0 212, VIK Vasteras HK
Boxcars: 30GP 1-0-1 (ALL)

Description: Big bodied, two way winger from Sweden. With size, physicality and decent offensive upside, Lundh has the potential to be an effective bottom six wnger in the NHL. Has a very good stick in the defensive zone, creates a lot of turnovers. Reads the play well in his own zone. Below average one on one defender. Good physical game, that should translate to the NHL. Has an fairly accurate and heavy shot. Is a decent passer but below average vision hurt his playmaking ability. Sometimes struggles to find the open areas of the ice. Is an average skater – has okay speed but is hard to knock off the puck. Is in good physical condition. Needs to be willing to go to the dirty areas of the ice more often.

Best case Scenario:
3rd line winger
Worst case Scenario: Career AHLer

5th round, 124th overall

Pick: Andrei Beriev, RW, Right, 6’3 193, Buran
Boxcars: 42GP 10-7-17 (VHL)

Description: Raw, offensive minded winger from Russia. Displaying flashes of brilliance in the offensive zone, Beriev has the potential to be a legitimate NHLer but has a long way to go, and needs to improve his defensive play first. Is very good with the puck on his stick and can make defenders look silly. Good accurate, heavy shot. Struggles to make the simple passes. Is able to find the open areas of ice. Poor one on one defender. Is okay posistionally in the defensive zone. Doesn’t sense danger well and often gets caught in the offensive zone. Projects to be an average skater at the NHL level, but is tough to knock off the puck. Average physical game. Needs to bulk up and get in better shape.

Best case Scenario: 2nd-3rd line winger
Worst case Scenario: Never reaches professional level

6th round, 154th overall
Pick: Oliver Cameron, C, Left, 6’5 218, Brandon
Boxcars: 69GP 7-16-23 (WHL)

Description: Huge two way center from Manitoba. Possessing good offensive skills and a solid defensive game, Cameron could be an effective NHLer but there are concerns about his upside. Decent vision, and very good passing ability make his upside as a playmaker desirable. Accurate shot, but is only effective shooting from the slot. Is decent working in front of the goalie. Has an active stick in the defensive end and can break up plays well. Is an average one on one defender, and is above average positionally. Projects to be an average skater at the NHL level. Needs to use his size a lot better – currently has a poor physical game. Is very strong, but needs to work on his conditioning.

Best case Scenario: 3rd-4th line center
Worst case Scenario: Career AHLer

7th round, 184th overall
Pick: Frederic Rodier, C, Left, 6’3 185, France U18
Boxcars: 28GP 15-21-36 (U18)

Description:
Tall, lanky, defensive minded center from France. Displaying very good instincts in the defensive zone, Rodier could become an effective bottom-six checker, but it’s his offensive game that will ultimately decide his fate in the NHL. Good one on one defender. Has an active stick in his own zone and breaks up plays well. Is a wizard in the face off circle. Below average physical game. Fumbles the puck around too often. Has an accurate shot, but is only effective in close range. Is an average passer but poor vision really hampers his offensive upside. Struggles to find the open areas of the ice. Is good at working the area in front of the goalie. Projects to be an average skater at the NHL level. Lets his temper get the best of him too often.

Best case Scenario: 3rd line center
Worst case Scenario: Career ECHLer

OFF-SEASON GOALS

1. As an old team not winning that has a below average farm system, the number one priority for this team going forward will be to increase the value of the pipeline.

2. Currently, the Predators have very poor depth at Left Wing, and will look to address these concerns either by trade or free agency.

3. WIth Mike Smith being 39 and no other goalies in the NHL, the Predators will look for help at the goaltender position.

4. Predators will look for another left defenseman to round out their core.

Definitely like what you've got started. Any chance of a few screenshots of your new draftees? I'm curious to see what newgens look like in terms of their development once they reach draft age!

I want to avoid just posting screencaps from my game, but here is Jyrki Antonen and Angus Soquila (my first and second round picks). Since both players I drafted were a bit raw, I decided to also post Adrian Valtr (the 1st overall pick from the draft) and Paul Bloom (a late second round pick who is fairly well developed) to give a better representation of what kind of players you'll be looking at. In my experience, 3rd-7th round prospects tend to look a lot like the 2nd round ones just with slightly worse ratings. Players seem to be pretty tall in FHM as well - contrary to what you see in these pictures 6'0 is fairly short I think.

IMO, this draft as a whole was probably a little bit weaker than average.

Thanks for posting those up. It's interesting seeing how players look who've been created. Your point about the height is interesting-- it could be that players generating at 14/15/16 are generating an inch or two too tall, perhaps. Looking forward to seeing how this goes!

PREDATORS GAMES #1-7

Nashville Predators Opening Day Lines
http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps6be36f95.png

GAME #1 (1/10/21)

Predators 0
Canucks 7

Shots on Goal: 27-34

Although it was expected that it would be a tough year for the rebuilding Predators, it wasn’t expected to be 7-0 bad. Paul Stastny opened the scoring assisted by Tyler Myers and rising defenseman Adam Kaul six minutes into the game. Just ten seconds later, Rickard Rakell made it 2-0 for the Canucks. James van Riemsdyk would score before periods end to give the Canucks a 3-0 lead after one. Van Riemsdyk would score on the powerplay midway through the second on an assist from one of the games brightest young stars Juha Nousiainen. With the score 4-0 entering the third, Vancouver would get goals from Cam Henly, William Carrier, and a third from James Van Riemsdyk late in the third to complete the hat trick – much to the delight of the Vancouver crowd. The Predators were not without their chances as Nicklas Backstrom and Filip Forsberg were able to generate 9 shots playing together. Roberto Luongo (who has stayed with Canucks his entire career in the FHM universe), made 27 saves to get the shutout. An unfortunate occurrence happened for Predators RW Joe Vitale as he left the game with a back injury and will be out for four weeks. Anton Blidh is expected to fill in while Vitale is on the injury list.

GAME #2 (4/10/2021)

Predators 2
Coyotes 3

Shots on Goal: 31-41

The Predators had a much better showing Tuesday night, but fell to the Henrik Samuelson led Coyotes in a tightly contested game. Brett Mohler opened the scoring midway through the first on a powerplay goal assisted by Ed Sharp and Sean Day. It was Ed Sharp’s first point of what Predators fans hope will be many. The Predators would take this 1-0 lead into the second period, but it fell apart as Henrik Samuelsson scored three second period goals – one on the powerplay, one even strength, and one shorthanded to record a natural hat trick in the span of five minutes. Samuelsson was all over the ice, directing eleven shots towards the Predators net. The Predators would battle back in the third with Nick Foligno scoring midway through the period, while Colin Martinhook picked up an assist – his first career NHL point against his former team. However, Brad Schumaker would make 19 third period saves as the Coyotes would hang on and get the 3-2 win. Louis-Philip Guindon had a nice bounce back game for the Predators making 38 of 41 saves in a losing effort.

GAME #3 (6/10/2021)

Ducks 5 (SO)
Predators 4

Shots on Goal: 37-46

The Predators jumped out to a 3-1 lead but couldn’t hang on as the Ducks would make it 4-3 before the Predators tied the game before losing in a shootout, earning their first point of the season. Nicklas Backstrom opened the scoring with his first of the season just two minutes into the game. However, the Ducks fought hard in the period and tied it midway through on a Joel Vermin goal. Backstrom scored early in the second period and Felix Gerard potted his first of the season a couple minutes later to stretch the lead to 3-1 for the Predators. However, the Ducks wouldn’t go away as Connor Bleackley scored midway through the period to narrow the gap to one by periods end. The Ducks came out flying in the third as the Vermin-Ritchie-Lindholm line scored twice in the first three minutes of the period to give the Ducks their first lead of the game. This lead would be short lived as Zach Steppan scored a few minutes later tying the game at 4. Unfortunately for Steppan he was forced to leave the game with a shoulder injury soon after. There would be no further scoring until the shootout where Miro Aaltonen, Nathan Evans, and Kevin McKay would all score for the Ducks to secure them the victory. After the game, it was heard that Steppan say he will be out 3 weeks and that Colin Blackwell will be called up from Milwaukee to fill in for the injured Steppan.

GAME #4 (11/10/2021)

Predators 3 (SO)
Wild 2

Shots on Goal: 28-48

Despite getting outshot 48-28, the Predators pick up their first win of the season thanks in large part to Louis-Phillip Guindon’s 46 saves. The Predators started strong and eventually got the first goal of the game thanks to Anton Blindh, a lead they would take into the dressing room at the first intermission. The Wild responded strong in the second period, and got goals from Eric Cornel and Tyler Seguin 64 seconds apart midway through the second period. Guindon did well to keep the Predators in the game making 15 stops in the period. The Predators battled hard in the third and eventually broke through as Trey Lewis would tie the game midway through the third with assists from Backstrom and Sharp. Guindon made 14 saves in the period to preserve the 2-2 tie. The Wild were buzzing around the net in overtime but Guindon stood tall making 7 saves in the five minute frame. Nick Foligno would proceed to score the only goal in the shootout, giving the Predators the 3-2 shootout victory.

INJURY REPORT: Simon Karlsson has separated his shoulder in practice and will be out 3 weeks.

Game #5 (12/10/2021)

Avalanche 5
Predators 3

Shots on Goal: 29-26

The Nashville Predators fall to 1-3-1 in their first five games to open the season as Nathan MacKinnon scores twice for the Avs on route to a 5-3 win. The Predators had trouble containing Avs star right winger Nathan MacKinnon to start the game as MacKinnon would score twice in the period. Craig Smith scored his first goal of the 2021-2022 season making the score 2-1 in a period that saw the Avalanche outshoot the Predators 13-6. Despite the first period struggles, the Predators would find themselves in a 2-2 game just minutes into the second period after a Filip Forsberg goal. Unfortuantely for the Predators, things would fall apart in the third, as the Avalanche would get goals from Scott Kasmachuk, Anthony Duclair, and Peter Cehlarik in the first ten minutes of the period putting the game out of reach at 5-2. Felix Gerard would score late for the Predators, but it was too little too late as the Avalanche would cruise to the 5-3 win. Mike Smith had a rough outing in his first start of the season letting in five goals on just 29 shots. Ed Sharp struggled finishing the game a -3.

GAME #6 (14/10/2021)

Islanders 0
Predators 4

Shots on Goal: 30-37

Mike Smith bounces back making 30 saves for the Predators as the Predators cruise to a convincing 4-0 victory – their first home victory of the season. Jake Milan opened the scoring six minutes into the game, scoring his first career NHL goal. The Predators would continue their strong play in the second leading on the shot clock 25-17 after two periods. However the score would remain 1-0 until the dying seconds of the second period when Filip Forsberg would extend the lead to 2-0 on a goal assisted by Philip Holm and Nicklas Backstrom. The Predators would get goals from Nick Foligno and Ed Sharp in the first ten minutes of the third, and Mike Smith would make 13 saves in the period to preserve the shutout for the Predators. The Predators victimized the Fox-Staal-Kypreos line who were a -3 in the game. Sean Day had a strong game for Nashville recording two assists, three shots, and four hits on the night.

GAME #7 (15/10/2021)

Red Wings 1
Predators 3

Shots on Goal: 22-28

A stingy Predators defense leads Nashville to their second straight win in as many nights with a 3-1 victory over Detroit. Sean Day would open the scoring just 44 seconds into the game to give the Predators an early 1-0 lead in what would be a relatively uneventful first period. The Wings came out flying to start the second and would eventually tie the game on a Kevin Charland snapshot assisted by Jud Collier and Markus Ekberg. After weathering the storm, Nashville played a solid second period and headed into the locker at the second intermission with the game tied at one goal apiece. The Predators would play a fantastic third period outshooting the Red Wings 13-6 and outscoring them 2-0. It would start only 48 seconds into the third as Jake Milan scored with helpers from Nicklas Backstrom and Craig Smith. Backstrom would assist on another third period goal scored by Brent Seabrook midway through the third to give the Predators the insurance goal. Louis Philip Guindon wasn’t tested often but he came up big when he needed to making 21 of 22 saves. The Predators next game will be on home ice against the Blackhawks on the 18th.

PREDATORS GAMES 8-15

GAME #8 (18/10/2021)

Blackhawks 3
Predators 5

Shots on Goal: 27-29

Craig Smith scores a hat trick while Ed Sharp scores twice as the Predators offense carries them to their third straight victory. It was an excellent first period for the Predators that saw them outshoot the Blackhawks 13-7. Craig Smith gave the Predators a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game, while Ed Sharp made it 2-0 twelve minutes into the period. The Blackhawks would not go away and responded with a great period of their own, outshooting Nashville 11-7 and finally getting two late goals from Andrew Shaw, and Tomas Tatar. The latter would come on the powerplay following a silly roughing penalty from Ed Sharp. However, Sharp would atone for his earlier mistake scoring three minutes into the third to give the Predators the lead once again. Craig Smith would score 22 seconds later and would score later in the period to get the hat trick to much applause from the Nashville crowd. The Predators exploited the lack of depth on the Chicago blueline victimizing the third pairing of Morin and Hanson who were a combined -6 on the night.

Shots on Goal: 27-29

GAME #9 (20/10/2021)

Jets 2
Predators 0

Shots on Goal: 28-37

19-year old Stephen Garteig makes 37 saves to give the Jets a 2-0 win over the Predators. It was a hard fought first period, but the Jets broke the deadlock late in the period with a goal from Alex Broadhurst and assists from Jaxton Button and Jimmy Lodge. The Predators would play a very good second period, but Stephen Gareig was up to the challenge making 11 saves to keep the score 1-0 after fourty minutes of play. Nick Foligno was all over the ice registering five shots in just nine minutes before having to leave the game with an abdominal strain. Reports say the injury is not too serious and that he should return in about a weeks time. Coming out of the locker room, Jimmy Lodge would score unassisted early in the third period to give the Jets a two goal cushion. Stephen Gareig would do the rest making 13 saves in the period to record the first shutout of his young NHL career. Louis-Philip Guindon made 26 saves in a losing effort.

GAME #10 (22/10/2021)

Rangers 1
Predators 2 (OT)

Shots on Goal: 30-38

Louis Philip-Guindon makes 29 saves and Ed Sharp has a two point night as the Predators edge the Rangers 2-1. Filip Forsberg opened the scoring after a Dave Boland roughing penalty just minutes into game on a goal assisted by Brent Seabrook and Ed Sharp. Christopher Hudson would tie the game at the ten minute mark of a back and forth, faced paced first period. The Predators would have plenty of chances in the second but Kari Lehtonen stopped all fifteen shots directed toward him to keep the game a 1-1 tie after two periods. After an uneventful third period, the game would go to overtime where Ed Sharp who was buzzing around the Rangers net all game scored on a goal assisted by Sean Day and Nicklas Backstrom to give the Predators the 2-1 win. Ponuts Aberg also had a strong game for the Predators registering six shots in just over fourteen minutes of ice time.

GAME #11 (24/10/2021)

Predators 3
Jets 4

Shots on Goal: 31-36

Predators fall to the Jets for the second time in three games thanks in part to four second period goals by the Jets. Pontus Aberg gave the Predators a 1-0 lead at the ten minute mark of the first period in what was a very solid period of play for Nashville. Unfortunately, things would fall apart in the second starting with Aleksi Saarela’s goal four minutes into the period. Star winger Eric Braun and Jimmy Lodge would score ten seconds apart, giving the Jets 3-1 lead after scoring three goals in just 34 seconds of play. Ryan Olsen would add a goal before periods end to give the Jets a 4-1 lead after two. Kudos should be given to the Predators for not giving up as Erik Haula and Ed Sharp scored in the first three minutes of the third narrowing the lead to 4-3. However, that would be all the Predators get as the Jets would hang on for the 4-3 win.

GAME #12 (26/10/2021)

Predators 4 (SO)
Avalanche 3

Shots on Goal: 27-39

Predators get points from nine different players and eventually win in a shootout in a back and forth exciting affair in Denver. Jakub Voracek was in beast mode all game for the Avalanche registering twelve shots, and scoring two goals in the first period – a period which saw the Avalanche dictate the pace of play. The Predators refused to go away though, and Anton Blindh closed the deficit to one with a goal late in the first period. After an early Colorado penalty to start the second period play, Nashville would capitalize just fifteen seconds into the powerplay on a goal by Filip Forsberg. Stanley Dobson would restore the one goal lead for the Avalanche fifteen minutes into the second, but the Predators once again showed their ability to respond quickly as Erik Haula scored before periods end to make it a 3-3 game after fourty minutes of play. The Avlanche dominated the third period but Mike Smith shut the door making 15 saves in the period. After overtime solved nothing, Brett Mohler would get the shootout winner in a 6-round shootout as the Predators exited Denver with a 4-3 win.

GAME #13 (27/10/2021)

Predators 1
Stars 2

Shots on Goal: 28-37

Louis Philip-Guindon keeps the Predators in the game with 35 saves, but Nashville eventually loses 2-1 in an entertaining hockey game. The Predators would start strong and get the first goal of the game four minutes into the first period thanks to Sean Day, but then the Stars kicked it into another gear and proceed to dominate the rest of the period. The Stars would get sixteen shots on goal including goals from Alex Chiasson and Brandon Saad to give them a 2-1 lead after one. After a back and forth second period that saw no scoring, the Predators came out of the locker room after the second and fired 14 shots on net, but Tyler Demko stopped all fourteen to preserve the win for the Stars. Although he didn’t show up on the scoresheet, the Predators had a tough time containing Jeff Skinner who had seven shots on net for the Stars. Philip Holm played a solid game for the Predators in the loss.

GAME #14 (29/10/2021)

Predators 4
Blackhawks 6

Shots on Goal: 33-34

Rookie LW Keegan Trihey scores twice and adds an assist as Blackhawks offense comes alive and scores six goals in a 6-4 home victory over the Predators. Erik Haula would open the scoring just minutes into the game in what would prove to be an entertaining, high scoring period of hockey. Keegan Trihey would tie the game six minutes later, assisted by Francis Morin. The Predators would retake the lead fourteen minutes into the first on a goal by Filip Forsberg, but once again Keegan Trihey would score a goal in response to tie the game at two. J.T Miller scored for the Blackhawks before periods end giving the Blackhawks a 3-2 lead, despite being outshot 15-10 in the period. Spencer Watson would extend Chicago’s lead to two goals five minutes into the first, but the Predators would hang around as Alexandre Ranger would score his first career NHL goal to make it a 4-3 game heading into the third. The Hawks would restore the two goal lead early in the third thanks to John Klingberg, and Patrick Kane would ice it later in the period. A late goal by Craig Smith was irrelevant as the Blackhawks would go on to win the game by a score of 6-4. The pairing of Philip Holm and Colin Martinhook had a rough day going a combined -5, while Brent Seabrook was solid picking up two assists while going +2 in a losing cause. There was further bad news for the Predators as they found out Felix Gerard would miss one month with a neck injury. However, Nick Foligno is scheduled to return to the lineup for the Predators next game against the Blues.

PREDATORS GAMES #15-20

GAME #15 (2/11/2021)

Blues 4
Predators 5

Shots on Goal: 44-39

Blues score four times in the second, but Ed Sharp’s two powerplay goals fuel the comeback as Predators win 5-4 in a high scoring affair. The Blues dictated the pace of play in the first period, but it was the Predators who eventually got the game’s first goal thanks to Anton Blindh. Craig Smith would extend the lead to 2-0 as Craig Smith scored on the powerplay with the lone assist from Erik Haula. The Blues, who had played well up to this point, would explode for three goals in the span of a minute and a half. Wayne Simmonds started the comeback with David Krejci and Alex Pietrangelo following suit. The Blues would extend their lead to 4-2 with a goal late in the period thanks to a Mitchell Levandoski goal. However, Ed Sharp would score on the powerplay before periods end to cut the lead to 4-3 going into the locker room. Sharp would be the one who tied the game six minutes into the third on another powerplay goal. With the score 4-4 and time running down in the third, it looked as if this game was headed to overtime until Nick Foligno, who had just returned from injury, scored the game winning goal with 40 seconds left in the game to give the Predators the 5-4 regulation win.

GAME #16 (4/11/2021)

Canadiens 4
Predators 2

Shots on Goal: 33-32

Kevin Weegar scores twice for the Candiens as they defeat the Predators by the score of 4-2. Nicklas Backstrom had a goal and an assist in the losing effort. The Canadiens got off to a quick start opening the scoring just five minutes into the game on a Kevin Weegar goal assisted by P.K Subban and Marc Staal. Jacob de la Rose would score a few minutes later to give the Canadiens a 2-0 lead which would end up being the score after one period of play. The Candiens would remain in front by two after a relatively uneventful second period which saw no scoring and no penalties. The Canadiens would put this game to rest in the first half of the third period with Kevin Weegar getting his second of the game, and Ondrej Kase scoring to make it a 4-0 lead. Philip Holm and Nicklas Backstrom would score in the second half of the third period, but it was too little to late as the Canadiens would go on to win this one by the score of 4-2. The Foligno-Haula-Smith line had a rough day for the Predators being a -3 on the night. The bottom pairing of Jake Milan and Trey Lewis also struggled being -2 on the night.

UPDATE: Predators sign 26-year old C Taylor Maruya to a 1-year ELC worth $550K.

GAME #17 (6/11/2021)

Predators 2
Blues 3

Shots on Goal: 37-25

Predators win the shot clock convincingly, but Cory Crawford makes 35 of 37 saves to help the Blues sneak out with a 3-2 victory. The first period was back and forth but saw no scoring. Pavel Zacha would score the first goal of the game four minutes into the second period, while Wayne Simmonds would extend the lead to 2-0 a couple minutes later. Pontus Aberg would cut the defecit in half before the end of the second, but the Blues would take a 2-1 lead into the locker room. The Predators dominated the third period and eventually got the game tying goal on a Philip Holm slapshot assisted by Ed Sharp and Nicklas Backstrom. Cory Crawford continually kept the Blues in the game making fourteen saves in the period. His hard work paid off when Morgan Klimchuk scored with just under five minutes left in regulation, a lead which would end up holding up as the Blues would get the 3-2 win. Sean Day had a solid game for the Predators getting an assist while blocking five shots, while Colin Martinhook also had a strong game on the back end registering four shots on goal while blocking two.

GAME #18 (8/11/2021)

Jets 3
Predators 4 (SO)

Shots on Goal: 38-27

In a game similar to the St. Louis game, the Jets won the shot clock convincingly but it was the Predators and their balanced attack that ultimately got the two points. Nashville started the game strongly, outshooting the Jets 11-7 in the opening frame, and got the game’s first goal eighteen minutes into the period thanks to Josh Bailey. However, the Jets would respond well to start the second period dictating the pace of play, but it was Erik Haula who got the first goal of the second making it a 2-0 Predators lead. However, just eight seconds after the Haula goal, Taylor Leier scored to cut the lead to one again - a lead which the Predators would take into the locker room after the second period. It wouldn’t take long for the Jets to get going in the third as Axel Blomqvist, who was buzzing around in the Predators zone all night, would score just eight seconds into the period to tie the game at 2. Nick Foligno would respond four minutes later with a goal assisted by Philip Holm and Colin Martinhook to give the Predators the lead once again. But the Jets would not go away. They mustered sixteen shots in the period and eventually, once again, got the game tying goal thanks to Jaxxon Button. The Jets kept pressing for the go ahead goal but Guindon shut the door on them. Overtime solved nothing, and a shootout was needed. Rookie Ed Sharp would score the only goal in the shootout and the Predators would escape with a 4-3 victory.

GAME #19 (10/11/2021)

Flames 2
Predators 4

Shots on Goal: 27-26

Nick Foligno’s hat trick lifts Predators to their second straight win in a 4-2 win over the Flames. The Predators played a sloppy first period getting outshot 12-8, but found themselves up 2-0 thanks to the goals from Craig Smith and Nick Foligno. Nashville’s sloppy play would continue in the second with a too many men penalty, a mistake which the Flames would capitalize on with a Sven Baertschi powerplay goal. The Flames would keep the pressure on the Predators but Nick Foligno would score again to restore the two goal cushion. However, the Flames would not cease to relent and narrowed the defecit to one before period’s end when Johnny Gaudreau scored with just over a minute left in the period. The Predators, lucky to be up after the first two periods, would sort out their sloppy play and play a fantastic shutdown third period outshooting Flames 12-3 and preventing any real scoring chances for the Calgary offense. They would get the insurance thanks to Nick Foligno who scored his hat trick goal midway through the third period and cruise to the 4-2 win. There was more good news for the Predators fans when it was announced that Zach Steppan would return to the lineup against the Canadiens in two days time.

GAME #20

Predators 1
Canadiens 2

Shots on Goal: 24-34

Canadiens hold Predators to just 24 shots on goal while Tyler Johnson provides all the offensive Montreal needed on route to a 2-1 win. The first period was a back and forth period, but the Canadiens’ seized the momentum midway through the first period when Tyler Johnson scored shorthanded, giving them a 1-0 lead after one period of play. The Canadiens continued their solid play into the second, but the Predators push for the tying goal would be complete when Pontus Aberg took a pass from Colin Blackwell and buried it in the back of the net to make it a 1-1 game. Monteral would not let their foot of the gas pedal, and Tyler Johnson would score his second of the game to restore the one goal lead for the Canadiens. Montreal would do an excellent job in the third shutting down the Nashville offense as they limited them to just five shots in the period on route to a 2-1 victory. Brent Seabrook and Sean Day had strong game on the back end for the Predators, while the top line of Sharp-Backstrom-Forsberg struggled getting only 3 shots on goal.

Sorry to disappoint any of you who bother to read this, but I am going to cut describing the scoring summaries and just post a screen cap instead. I'll still post a couple sentences about who had a good game and who didn't, but I want this dynasty to go on for a while, and I'm going to go mad writing hundreds upon hundreds of these.
