Using Player Shortlist to cut down on news
1 Attachment(s)
Thanks to the new mass-select feature, I found a way to use my Player Shortlist to cut down on the number of news items in my mailbox. What I do is this: - Go to the Player List and create a custom filter of "Overall Rating Is At Least 70" (that's about 4 1/2 stars in my league - you can go higher or lower according to how many players you want in your shortlist).
- Mass-select the filtered players, who should be the cream of your league's crop. (Tip: I actually do this in two batches, All Batters only and Starters only. I don't want all of those highly rated/inflated MR's in my shortlist).
- Right-click on one player and choose Shortlist Players (see picture below).
- Go to News Subscriptions Settings and UN-select Contract News, Injury News, and Trades & Transactions.
- Make sure to select News Involving Shortlisted Players, however.
What this does is to filter out all of the contract, injury, trade and transaction news for the vast majority of players of whom you (well, I) don't really care. I do want to read such news about the best players in the league, though. This way, there's much less news to wade through and what is in my mailbox is of interest to me.
You need to delete your Player Shortlist periodically (mass-select, right-click, choose Unshortlist Players) and repeat steps 1-5 above to keep your Player Shortlist current. I do this once per season.
Of course, doing this may prevent you from using your Player Shortlist for other reasons. For example, I used to use it to track players that I traded away to see how they did in the future. Fortunately, I now have Manager Notes for that! ;)
