Missing baseball. As for the Mets, Mike Piazza was my favorite Dodger, my love for baseball never quite recovered from Fox buying the team and doing him that way. Glad he found a home with the Mets, too bad they. couldn't have beaten the Yanks. I always smile when I think of Clemens throwing the bat at him...Rodger had everything...except the love of the fans. And of course, first live baseball game I attended was Mets & Dodgers as a kid with my dad. Still remember the game. Tim Belcher vs Sid Fernandez. Sid was a bit wild, gave up 4 early runs and was out of the game by the 4th. That was enough for LA and it ended up 4-1. Good Times.

2071 Summary

I played a custom-built position player squad in 2071... Rod Carew played 2nd base & hit .340+, Jose Reyes, Joe Torre & Joe Sewell were at 3B & SS.

Hank Aaron, Lance Johnson & Darryl Strawberry in the OF.

What happened?
The team went 90-72 and made the playoffs as a wild card...we won the wild card game and went 0-3 to the Bearsville Bears in the DS. Losing all these DSs, I'm not sure if I can call my team a dynasty...but that was never really the point of this thread...just to write about the PT experience a little or a lot.

The new position players scored 847 runs, which was right up there with the best seasons for other Flyers teams...

But wow the defense was bad...it ranked dead last in the conference with something like a -75 ZR. They made 90 errors or so...See it wasn't really that bad but just relatively speaking...we're talking a custom small downgrade in the pitching staff here that might account for giving up 50 more than the average 550 runs or so that ended up allowing 737 runs. So I suppose you could pin nearly 200 runs on the defense over the course of 162 games. Or 137? I'm doing the math sans calculator. Maybe I'll go get one of those.

Anyway, Goodnight.

The only thing I really remember about my first MLB game was going through a tunnel to get to the seats area @ Shea & smiling at the view. The field & the player's uniforms were PERFECT.

Things are a little different for a few reasons in 2072. 1. Less collective excitement due to PT 3.0...2. MLB 2020 delayed 3... 50+ seasons of virtual managing...those are the 3 biggest obvious ones I can think of.

The Flyers had a nice run where we won 3 championships in about 6 or 7 seasons...since we have made the playoffs every season (6 or 7 more) but fallen short of another championship to this point.

We're in the running again this week. Haven't heard about how Mickey (Mouse) feels about our chances. But 53-27 & as strong a squad as ever. Many things will factor in on how the rest of the week goes.

Good Morning or Good Night depending on your orientation.

Or Good Afternoon!

We're an impressive but turbulent 73-33 after 106 games in the books, on the record, in the rearview mirror...

A few new players on the roster.

I liked the way my bullpen was looking, & despite the varying performances you can get year-by-year, that good-looking pen has played just like I thought it could.

We've got guys going in & out of the rotation and the lineup...

My best mash-up team record to date... I guess despite some of the special cards, many of which I don't have, continuing to buy packs & check out the AH can win one some games as well. & the looser managing does allow some changes that I sort of trust on a loose level but may have left alone if I were trying to be too meticulous.

I'll let you all know on Sunday how everything panned out I guess.

Here is how things panned out... It was an excellent playoff, until I lost the first three games of the Championship Series to the Scorpions. Then it was an excellent playoff again when I won the next three games. As you can see we lost game 7, 3-0, though... so no 4th PL title for me this week. It was a pretty good series & good playoff Sunday, though. I can hardly believe I made it to a game 7 for the title & I can hardly believe I wasn't able to finish off the comeback.:)

I suppose this concludes my active documenting of the New York Flyers' PT 2.0 ride, at least in a consistent fashion. I am going to actively GM 1 or 2 other teams in PT 3.0.

Overall, I did a lot better than I expected I would at the top level except for only finishing the job 3 times to this point. I knew I had an idea of what I was doing but I also knew my budget, although I spent what I could... would be limited & that plenty of other GMs had an idea of what they were doing to the same extent as me & greater with varying budgets, I suppose, same idea...I didn't break much any TOS if any...Just GM for New York Flyers in it to win it. We can leave this thread here I guess & I'll re-visit it ... when I do.

2095 Playoffs Update

We're now in the simulated season 2095. Won PL Championships in 2077, 2083 & 2092 since I left off last against the LA Kings, Houdinis & Golden Saucer Wonder Squares.

Currently up 2-0 in the Divisional Series with some very tough competition, even for this level to be conquered if we're to win PL Title 7 & 9 overall today.

So far so good anyway.

One Great Matrix 09-13-2020 08:03 PM

Good day at the Virtual Ballpark except for the end

Divisional Series

New York Flyers 2, Poway Miwok 1
New York Flyers 5, Poway Miwok 4
New York Flyers 7, Poway Miwok 3

LCS

New York Flyers 3, Silicon Valley Outlaws 2
Silicon Valley Outlaws 3, New York Flyers 2
New York Flyers 2, Silicon Valley Outlaws 0
New York Flyers 10, Silicon Valley Outlaws 9
Silicon Valley Outlaws 10, New York Flyers 5
Silicon Valley Outlaws 7, New York Flyers 2
Silicon Valley Outlaws 4, New York Flyers 2

The Silicon Valley Outlaws will play the Pawtucket Poets in the Perfect League .470 Series. Not too surprised but perhaps you noticed how we took 3 out of the first 4 games and called it a season. Party is still kind of ongoing, just lost some of its buzz.

I guess this has just been a mini 2095 update but I'm not sure.
I might just update things in the near future that are of importance.
I don't have any more words right now...until next time.

Hi, there

"Uh-oh, here come a flying pack of wah-wahs"

The Flyers were alot of fun.

That's all I've got for here, for now.

I'll be here for a little while if you want to talk baseball.

But as for opening packs in 2020 I had terrible luck. Best card I ever pulled was a 93 Mussina out of at least 200 packs. What PP I had was from acheivements, buy low/sell high, collections, and my own back pocket. I probably spent about $300 on the team which sounds like a lot because it is. At the same time, I was/am able to compete with teams that likely spent thousands and had been playing all season.

Oh, alright.

But it's A Mets fan. You can find plenty more if you look for them...Orion Basil Elijah.
