OOTP Mobile Companion for Android
 

I'm proud to announce that something I have been working on for a while is now officially available. It's essentially a mobile-friendly interface for OOTP leagues, based largely on the layouts in MLB's app.

It uses the CSV (and, optionally, the HTML) generated by the game, and you get output that looks like this:

What you need is to have the CSV and HTML hosted somewhere on the internet. If you're in an online league that uses OOTP Online Utilities, you probably already have that, you just need to get the following paths from your commissioner. Or for solo leagues you can upload your own to whatever web hosting you have access to.

1. CSV - wherever the CSV gets uploaded, usually something like this http://yourleague.com/csv
2. HTML - wherever the "news/html" folder lives. So if your league's HTML is at http://yourleague.com/reports/news/html/index.html all you need is http://yourleague.com/reports.

Hopefully that makes sense. Once you provide that information, the app will download the CSV files and import them into an internal database in the app.

The app is compatible with Android 4.4 and up, and works with the CSV output from OOTP16 and newer.

Wow! That’s amazing! Clearly a step in the right direction and something OOTP dev should seriously consider integrating into their products

Heh. I just noticed a bug that prevents the app from launching. Hooray for my shoddy quality control! :o

I'll have an update out this evening, so don't download yet!

...and the 1.0.1 update is live, so now the app actually opens!

awesome, is it possible to host it on google drive and have the app point to the google drive folder(s) ?

That's actually a good idea, I'll have to dig into Google Drive integration.

Do you have any plans to try to make it where you can upload changes to your organization? I realize you'd need cooperation from OOTP, but that would be awesome.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking about there. If you mean make changes and upload like you do in game, it's pretty unlikely.

EXCELLENT. GOOD WORK. Can this be viewed as a utility link from the league website on an Iphone too?

Thanks! There isn't an iPhone version, since I'd need a Mac to develop (or, at least, to submit to the App Store).

But it is free. ;)

Does anyone have a specific web hosting service they recommend? I'm looking for a free one but this is most likely the only thing I will be using it for so it probably won't need bells and whistles.

I keep getting a No Leagues Found in Remote CSV file error. I uploaded the csv but I can't figure out what is wrong. Any ideas?

What is the path to the CSV? I'll take a look and see if I can figure out what's happening.

Just got this to work. Looks awesome so far

Initial findings:

I think the font on the stats tab of the players page needs to be smaller or make the lines for each year bigger so it fits properly.

WHIP appears to be miscalculating. Every pitcher I look at have a WHIP + 10.00

When I click on leagues, to change to AAA or rookie ball, app crashes.

I had actually done that originally, but there are so many columns to deal with that I felt a scrollable table was the best tradeoff to keep it readable. The tables are scrollable horizontally as well as vertically, and the top and left columns are sticky so you always kind of know where you are on the table.

Yeah, I'm seeing that too. Can't believe I missed that. FWIW it's right on the leaderboards! :o

That's a new one on me. Can you send me the path to the CSV? I'll try and look at that when I have time.

I am still planning on looking at Google Drive (and maybe other cloud storage) integration, it's just a matter of finding the time and energy. ;)
