Wow, what a trade
|
That's a lot of catchers.....
They probably would have been better off with the $100k (or whatever the Sox got in RL, I forget exactly). |
They must have had confidence in Bassler their catcher. He is still hitting over .300 career wise 11 years later.
|
Hargrove and Duncan worked out, as both are still hitting above .300. Priest and Heffner retired the next season with no play. Adams hit .188 in 13 games and retired 3 years later as only got to pinch run 3 times during those years.
They were also trading for a pitcher named Ruth. |
Shows a big issue with historical simming in newer versions of OOTP, even if you have personnel and managerial tendencies as loving defense and batting average, a C like Bubbles Hargrave is ELITE in the mind of the AI
He imports with good HR power and good OBP and suffers from Hornsby inflation, meaning he had less PA's so his % stats are overinflated than a player who plays day in and day out for 20 years. In real life he was medicore at handling pitchers (his name was Bubbles because he stuttered saying B, yea, wasn't so PC back then) and had an average arm But every replay this guy becomes the HOF elite C of my league, only matched by Wally Schang, the American league record holder for errors but another high HR power High Eye type C |
