Are there any restrictions on trading recently signed free agents?
For example, if a team signs a free agent in January, could they turn around and trade him away in February of that same year? OOTP seems to allow it, but it feels a bit unrealistic to me.
I did a Google search to see if there is any real life MLB rule related to this, but didn't find anything. Does anyone know if there is a rule, or know of an example of such a trade happening IRL? |
I think there might be a MLB rule that prevents a newly signed free agent from being traded before June 1st unless he waives his "no trade" right. I'm not positive on this though.

As far as I know, this is allowed. The only restrictions are the "10 and 5 rule"(can't be traded without consent if 10 years MLB service and 5 with same team) or if he has a no trade clause in his contract.

I found this after some extended internet sleuthing...

This is probably true, but it's not from an official source.
