My 1901 historical template

Still working on some of the issues from the import

But I have some concerns and would love feedback from my fellow OOTP historical guys

I am thinking of doing the secondary man roster as a 25 man roster, therefore anyone leaving the MLB club past 1904 (I have 20 man active rosters until then) will have to go through waivers. It's meant to sort of emulate the waiver rules back then and help with player movement

I have waivers ON of course
I have trades low and heavily favor veterans

I have veto trades with 10/5 vets off, I know some superstars called the shots, but they still were at the whim of the owners

Trading deadline is Aug 31st, and I have trade with other major leagues ON, but will that work for Independent leagues?

I have the PCL as my independent league, as it looked in it's major incarnation in 1904 (It has all the accurate players on the teams as well) It has a reputation of 7

The International (back then Eastern) and American Association are affiliated and my AAA I have age minimum as 17 and maximum as 65 (you must have ages on both for it to work)

Southern Association and Texas League are affiliated and my AA I have age limits as 16 minimum and maximum as 34

The 1930's Eastern League and the Western League are affiliated and my A I have age minimum as 13 and maximum as 25

These all can be changed to independent leagues but change the reputation
International should be 6
American Association should be 7
Southern Associaton should be 5
Texas League should be 4 (also change this to a heavy offensive league)
Western league should be 3
Eastern League should be 2

If you want the template, PM your email, I plan on sending it today NLT 7pm EST

You can respond here with issues and if you do change the Affiliated leagues to independent, respond on how it tested

Very interesting! Let us know your testing results.

The main problem simulating early 20th century major/minor relation was to facilitate the advancement of players to the majors. A new feature in 15 is the option to have teams purchase players from other teams (lower level). In one test league I ran that feature worked quite good as a number of very good AAA players were bought my major league clubs.
One prerequisite is to set up minor leagues as unaffiliated with own finances of course.

I've been putting some thought into this. In theory, you could make this work with all minor leagues being independent, with the ability for say a AAA team to purchase a player from a AA team.

You just have to set the purchase prices and cash maximums so that the AA teams never have enough cash to purchase players from AAA teams. That way player purchases will only move players "up" the ladder.

Then around 1935 you could just switch all the minors into affiliated leagues, except for the PCL, which could remain independent.

Just requires some testing.

Another admittedly unhistorical solution would be to have free agency after a single year and have major league teams bid on AAA talent and AAA bid on the lower rungs.
