Terrible brawl in Kansas

DeSousa should be suspended for the year.

Cobra Mgr 01-21-2020 10:20 PM

Looking at it again. McCormick should be gone as well. Can't tell who the K-St players were that got into it cause their number wasn't shown.

At first I thought he was grabbing the stool to hit somebody with it wrestling-style. But upon further review I suspect he was just trying to get it out of the way.

Possibly. But you look at this dude's history and actions last night. Kansas has gotten themselves into NCAA trouble because of him. They went on a PR blitz to get him a chance to play. Then he behaves like this last night. The guy repaid Kansas' support by starting a brawl. Teammates will be suspended. Maybe even banned. If I'm Self, I'm cutting ties before the Big 12ish says anything.

David Watts 01-22-2020 08:12 AM

After watching that, I can't wait to see what the NCAA does to punish Nichols State or maybe even Lamar.

Cobra Mgr 01-22-2020 08:46 AM

Heard on the radio that the area of the fight is the disabled section. Man, it could have been much worse.

Adn the main guy from the K-St side who got into it has been injured for the majority of his career and barely played.

Just a bunch of scrubs making everyone else look bad. If I'm coach I don't wait for a higher up to step in and hand out punishment. I'd take care of it myself. The conference can add on whatever they feel like.

Either you are not serious or you need to take another look at the video, particularly the replay in the final seconds. He had the chair over his head in a pose conducive to bringing it down on somebody's head until somebody grabbed it from behind. Whoever that person was, he or she deserves credit for possibly preventing this from being even worse.

Cobra Mgr 01-22-2020 01:21 PM

Kansas suspends DeSousa indefinitely. The only question is, does this "indefinite" suspension mean they are weighing the length or to make it permanent? Or is it a koach k "leader of men" one game "indefinite" suspension?

Yep, that is not moving the chair pout of the way so no one gets hurt. That's the beginning of a violent act.

The simple takeaway is as usual: No matter if it's sports, politics, or any other aspect of society, the louts must be purged. No excuses as to how well they play or what they promise; if you want a better way of life, the louts must be purged.

On second thought, that probably sounded more draconian than I intended. Substitute the word "disciplined" for "purged."

I dunno, looks like he's taking the chair back to storage so they can be stacked neatly.

As Jerry "the King" Lawler once said, "It's not a foreign object! He's just tired!"

Wonder if Kansas brass will consult with Rob Manfred on how to hand out punishment to players...

CBeisbol 01-22-2020 06:06 PM

People really love themselves some punishment

Cobra Mgr 01-22-2020 09:09 PM

12ish gives 12 games for DeSousa. Only 2 games for McCormack.

Yeah. That'll teach 'em.

I have to look a few more times but I am pretty disappointed in the security that did no mace one player involved in a brawl in the handicap section of the stands. I did not see security do anything useful to protect the fans. I have only watched the clip 4-5 times so far.

Macing in a closed area with fists flying and many people around is probably not the best idea, but local lawyers would have loved it.

There must be punishment!
The mob demands it
Even better if it's physical

Think of all the innocent lives that would have been spared if security had started pepper spraying people instead of sitting idly by.
