We are back home to play the surprising San Antonio Missions a 4 game series through the weekend. They just split a pair of games in Milwaukee. We were 6-2 against them last year when they finished 67-95 in 8th (last) place in the PCL West. We are 21-11 (.656) since 2001. They are 13th in scoring in the PCL with 3.75 runs per game (Portland is #4 with 4.52). The Missions are 3rd in fewest runs allowed with 3.36 per game, even though they play in the Skydome, a hitter's park (Portland is #2 with 3.34, even though we also play in a hitter's park). Their run differential is +23 and ours is +68, still 7 better than Brooklyn for the Best in Baseball.

San Antonio Missions (36-23 .610 2 GA in 1st place in the PCL East) at
Portland Beavers (38-20 .655 8 GA in 1st place in the PCL West)

SA: Mitch Bagley (23-R 7-4 2.42) 2-time Gold Glove(03-04) vs POR: Barry Phillips (22-R 8-3 3.48) CY/All-Star/Gold Glove(03)

Bagley is their #1 starter. He has pitched 2 straight shutouts, a 6 hitter and a 5 hitter. In the 6 hitter, he struck out 12 and walked 2. He was 1-1 against us last year with a 5 hit shutout and only gave us 3 runs in 7 IP in the loss.

Phillips gave up 2 runs in 7 IP for a win in his last start. Now would be a good time for him to start looking like a Cy Young Award winner.

SA: Mark Livington (24-L 8-3 1.74) vs POR: Bobby Johnson (26-R 8-4 2.19)

Livington is in his 3rd year in the League, but this is his 1st as a starter and it is not going half bad. He leads the PCL in ERA. He has allowed 2 earned runs total in his last 4 starts.
