The NHL decided it was time to give the people of Quebec a team, NHL awarded Quebecor a NHL team, but when Quebecor was getting ready to welcome the Nordiques back, the NHL governors decided that the Nordiques name, belong to the Avalanche franchises & refuse Quebecor to use the name. Quebecor had to go with the 2nd name from name your team contest (Nordiques got 95% of the votes) Armada.
