Two Historical issues
 

In doing a few test things the last few days i came accross 2 issues that you might like to know about. i can 't call them bugs...just oddities of the rating system.

The first is power stats for minor league players. When you look at the screen below you will see the top power guys in the world for 1982. The problem is that many of those players hit their home runs (all be it big numbers) in AAA. ALL on one year recalc. And before anyone asks NO SCOUTING

stanley davis 162 RL 10 in 451AB AAA
steeve demaatties 151 RL 14 in BC

So if you played this out these guys could be huge HR guys in the majors but not really qualified for it


The second was Nolan Ryan.
When I pulled him up in 1969, his potential strikeout rating was total 150 in the editor. Which seemed low.
When I pulled him up for 1972 his K rating was 176.
That is a big difference. Now it means little if someone is playing a reclac league as I do, but if someone was wanting to use the development engine, Ryan as he comes in 69 is not the pitcher from 72. I should have pulled him up in his rookie year to see what he comes in as then.

Just mentioning these things for historical players to take a look at, see if you see the same, and discuss

If you're playing recalc, potential numbers are useless. If you're not playing recalc, you can't expect players to develop historically.

My instinct is that OOTP MLE adjustments generally make the minor league stars too good. But guys like Ron Kittle and Ken Phelps did hit with real power in the major leagues. They would likely have hit for power if they had been in the majors in 1982, but they'd have struck out more and hit for a lower average than their OOTP counterparts.
