How to Prevent AVG Anti-Virus from Conflicting with the Elicense lcmmfu.cpl File

If you have AVG Anti-Virus' Resident Shield enabled, it will consider the C:\Windows\lcmmfu.cpl file to be a trojan threat. This file is only in place to verify that your game is properly licensed. Do not delete it, as it may cause your game to no longer open.

In AVG, you can go to Tools -> Advanced Settings -> Resident Shield -> Exceptions and then exclude the C:\Windows directory. It's not an ideal solution, but it will make your game work again. Edit: Another option is to go to Tools -> Advanced Settings -> Resident Shield -> Advanced Settings and add CPL in the "Exclude files with the following extensions from scanning" list.

Edit: We believe this is only an issue with AVG 8, not previous versions.

Edit: Another user posted the following: "If you already responded to the threat by placing the file in the AVG virus vault, you can open the AVG interface and use the "History" menu item to select the virus vault, then select that file and restore it."
