Coming up short can be crushing sometimes.

Game 3 of the league semi finals. My team is down 2-0 in the best of 7 series to a beast of a team. Dartmouth are the defending champions, and finished the season with the 2nd best record in league history at 52-14. This included a 22 game win streak (League record), and after starting the season 10-10 (Champions hangover?) went an unthinkable 44-4 the rest of the season. Needless to say I knew I would have my hands full in this series. I lost game one 8-1 and game two 6-1, although game two was closer than the score would suggest. After game two my only good takeaway from the series was at least I didn't get completely destroyed in a game yet. That thought quickly came back to my mind in game three as we found ourselves down 12-3 heading to the bottom of the 4th after giving up a 9 spot. My first though was, "The season is over. Not a chance at hell we come back from down 3-0, vs one of the most dominate and stacked teams in league history". Cue the epic comeback. We out score Dartmouth 9-1 in final 5 1/2 innings, and get within one run. 1 out, man on 3rd, bottom of the 9th. This is where heroes are made. Our next player strikes out so it's all down to a guy at the bottom of our lineup. It's pop-fly to center field and it's caught to end the game. Absolutely gutted. Such a great comeback and it just fell short. Hopefully we can win the next game to save a little face.
