You can add to or update the IOLD. That reminds me though: I need to update the version numbers.
There's also the official directory, but I don't know if that's still going or not. |
The so-called official one has some things dated as recently as JUL 1. I might try to update/expand on it. I will leave OLD to you, but I will share my results if I get usefully far with it.

Nice job and thanks for doing this.

After spending several hours reviewing online leagues, I am shocked by the level of attrition. There also seems to be a good bit of acrimony in many leagues. This is very disappointing. I was looking forward to a new adventure, but this won't be it. At least I saved 40 bucks.

When looking to join a league, it's always a good idea to look around, be sure that the people running the league have a handle on what they are doing... and that the tone on their forums suits your taste. But there are a whole lot of stable leagues out there. The three leagues I run total something like 80 total seasons among them, with very, very few missed sims and even fewer major disputes among participants... and we are not unusual in that regard. (Two of my leagues have openings, if you are interested.) |
This is great! Thank you for your hard work!

The NAPBBP
The National Association of Professional Base Ball Players, the NAPBBP, is just about to enter into it's 21st season of existence.
Beginning in the 1858 season with 16 franchises, the league has now expanded to 32 teams and a great bunch of owners. We incorporate historical players, Negro League players, professional players who did not get the opportunity to play in the original National League or who's careers began before 1871, and some fictional players. As we enter into the 1878 season, fictional players are being reduced since the June Draft Pool is made up of more real MLB players. We are a hybrid league, incorporating modern statistical baselines and a 154 game schedule throughout, but keep a historical feel with franchise names and players. The league was started as a background for a screen play I wrote and for a novel I am working on and will be in existence as long as I exist I suppose. I appreciate the hard work everyone involved puts in and it has been a fun project so far. We sim 2 weeks of game time every 2-3 days to keep things moving along and to build history. Down the road, we may slow down some but so far we have been through nearly 3 years at this pace and it seems to work well. I do not own a team but have an obvious vested interest in the running of the league and we are always looking for like minded owners to be a part of the project. We currently have one opening, the Cincinnati Redstockings if there are any Cinci fans out there. I try to get owners the team they want and other owners are open to moving if they dont' have the team they optimally would want to own. Keep us in mind if anyone is looking for a fun, well run, long standing on-line league. League Website www.napbbp.com Stats, Standings, History BNN Home Page |
Slow going, but some progress. What I have done up to this point is now in Google Docs (except for deleted leagues). There are some duplicate acronyms that I am aware of. Anyone should be able to make comments within the spreadsheet, which I will then incorporate into the spreadsheet proper. The link:

Thank you for doing this. Tom (LP) I added them to the "E" column. |

Looks good, again, really appreciate the effort. :thumbup1:

My first pass is done:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1026394513 If any commissioner strongly objects to an abbreviated league name I may have used, just let me know. The next step will be to collect and list league attributes, such as format, teams, minors, financials, etc. It would be a great help if folks (not limited to commissioners) posted that info here. You can get ideas by looking at the far right column of the Bench Jockey league, but you need not limit yourself to the types of data you see there. Thanks, guys. |
