Today is Opening Day in the International League.

The Columbus Clippers will begin their season tomorrow.

The Columbus Clippers demoted CFs Ryan Apter to Class A Lake County and Austin Cousino to High-A Lynchburg.

The Columbus Clippers received RPs Jeff Malm and Carlos Frias from Rookie League Cleveland (DSL) and RP Arnold Leon from Double A Akron.

In the top of the first, Allen hit a solo home run to put the Clippers on the board first.

Reyes led off the bottom of the first with a home run to tie the game. Osuna added a two run homer to give the Indians the lead.

In the top of the third, Mejia came through with a two-out RBI single to make it a one run game.

After three: Indianapolis 3 Columbus 2.

In the top of the fifth, Shaffer tied the game with an RBI single.

In the top of the sixth, Damien Magnifico took the mound for the Indians.

In the bottom of the sixth, Stallings put the Indians back in the lead with a sacrifice fly. Lindsey added his own sacrifice fly to increase the lead back to a pair.

After six: Indianapolis 5 Columbus 3.

After a lead off walk in the top of the eighth, Tyler Eppler took the mound for the Indians. Napoli would give the Clippers the lead back with a three run homer. With nobody out, Tanner Anderson took the mound for the Indians. Garcia would score on a wild pitch to give the Clippers a two-run lead.

Preston Claiborne took the mound for the Clippers in the bottom of the eighth.

Evan Marshall took the mound for the Clippers in the bottom of the ninth and put the Indians down in order to get the save.

The Indians lost despite recording 11 hits as a team as well as notching 14 Ks from their pitchers.

Final score: Columbus 7 Indianapolis 5.

In the top of the first, Mejia hit a two-out two run homer to put the Clippers on the board.

Newman led off the bottom of the first with a home run to put the Indians on the board.

In the top of the third, Zimmer hit a solo home run to make it a two-run lead once again.

In the bottom of the third, Stallings hit an RBI single to make it a one run game again. One out later, Osuna put the Indians in the lead with a two-run homer.

After three: Indianapolis 4 Columbus 3.

Chang led off the top of the fifth with a home run to tie the game.

Arnold Leon took the mound for the Clippers in the bottom of the sixth. The Indians loaded the bases with two out. But Stallings grounded to short to end the inning.

After six: Columbus 4 Indianapolis 4.

In the top of the seventh, Tanner Anderson took the mound for the Indians.

In the bottom of the seventh, with a runner on first and one out, Carlos Frias took the mound for the Clippers. Meadows put the Indians back in the lead with a two-out RBI double.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Indians loaded the bases with nobody out. Lindsey drew a full count walk to bring in a run. Stallings made it a three-run lead with a sacrifice fly. Osuna knocked another run in with a two-out single. With runners at first and second with two out, Louis Head took the mound for the Clippers. Kang singled to load the bases before Meadows grounded back to the pitcher to finally end the inning as the Indians battled around the order.

The Indians got 14 hits in the victory.

Final score: Indianapolis 8 Columbus 4

In the bottom of the second, the Indians loaded the bases with one out. Smith set Stallings down on strikes for the second out. Lindsey then brought one run in with a single to right but Garcia threw Hill out at home as he was trying to score from second.

After three: Indianapolis 1 Columbus 0.

In the top of the fourth, Papi put the Clippers in the lead with a two-out two-run homer.

In the bottom of the fourth, Hill tied the game with a lead off home run.

In the bottom of the fifth, Hill put the Indians back in the lead with a two-out RBI single. Newman followed with his own RBI single to give the Indians a two run lead.

In the top of the sixth, Mejia tied the game with a two-run homer. With a runner on second and one out, Tyler M Jones took the mound for the Indians. Rosales gave the Clippers the lead back with an RBI double. Malm picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly. The Clippers batted around the order in the inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, Jeff Beliveau took the mound for the Clippers.

After six: Columbus 6 Indianapolis 4.

In the top of the seventh, Papi picked up a two-out RBI single. With a runner on first and two out, Richard Rodriguez took the mound for the Indians.

In the bottom of the seventh, Beliveau struck out the side around a two-out triple by Luplow.

Evan Marshall took the mound for the Indians in the bottom of the ninth and finished off the Indians.

The two teams combined for 22 hits and 24 strikeouts in the contest. Liranzo recorded 10 of the strikeouts.

Final score: Columbus 7 Indianapolis 4.
