The worst Silver Slugger performance you'll ever see
 

The ace of my fictional league team has been a stud for a while and has quite the resume. He's won Pitcher of the Year 5 times and has been an all star every year he's played. But in 2011 he added to his resume in a rather odd fashion: he won his first ever Silver Slugger award at P.

He's never been a good hitter (as you can clearly see in the first picture) and this year was no different. He went just 4/71 with 0 HRs and 1 RBI, with a 1/45 BB/K ratio, slashing .056/.068/.070...and he won Silver Slugger! :laugh:

I can't think of any reason the writers would give him this award...I don't know off hand who actually had the best season hitting as a pitcher in 2011 but I know a pitcher on one of my division rival teams went 8/65 with 1 HR and 6 RBI and only struck out 13 times. Guess the media just likes him that much.

Yeah, I'm wondering if everyone graded out as a 0 internally and the voters just picked at random...

I've seen this in my OOTP19 Historical Random Debut as well. Nolan Ryan won the 1905 NL Silver Slugger at pitcher with a .064/.099/.064/.163 slash line, which was good for a -52 OPS+. It may be in the deadball era, but I was using 1984 as a base for league stats output. I remember voting for somebody else. I'll see if I can find them. Well, here are some possibilities from the NL in 1905: Kyle Kendrick: .243/.280/.300/.580, good for a 66 OPS+ in 92 PA, Denny Driscoll: .198/.216/.314/.530, good for a 50 OPS+ in 101 PA, Bill Hoffer: .200/.268/.308/.575, and a 64 OPS+ in 77 PA, Frank Watt: .265/.260/.388/.648, and an 83 OPS+ in 52 PA. I have no idea who I voted for as I'm now between 1907 and 1908, but obviously all four of these guys would've been better choices along with just about any pitcher in the league that year. Hell, you could've sent up a tree stump and he might've outdone Ryan.

There's something I've noticed in the course of this search. RL pitchers often have negative OPS+ and wRC+ because of their abject ineptitude with the bat. What I've seen with all of the pitchers I've looked at so far (and thus I suspect all of them across the league) is that it is possible to have a negative OPS+, but it is not possible to have a wRC+ of less than 0. That is wrong. Generally speaking, OPS+ and wRC+ are very, very close together with RL players. For example Tomo Ohka has had a negative OPS+ in every one of my game's first seven seasons (-29, -4, -1, -24, -58, -16, and -3), and a zero wRC+ in every one of it's first seven seasons.

He therefore has a career OPS+ of -19, and a career wRC+ of 0. This is absolutely not possible. There's something in the wRC+ calculus that's gone bonkers somewhere in all of the updates for Perfect Team, and it needs to be fixed for those of us that like the advanced stats. Let me know if you want me to make a bug forum thread, but this is definitely something that needs work, if not in OOTP19, then before OOTP20 comes out. It may just be a little thing that got borked, but it needs looking at. Thank you. Pretty pictures below.

I think that might be it, actually. I had a pitcher win the Silver Slugger with similar numbers, like a .053 average.
