Explain to me why the computer is setting their bullpen up like this?

Can you post a picture of your current bullpen?

paul.m.w. 11-06-2014 02:08 AM

I think the top is the current one ...

this is not my team, it is a team the computer is controlling..... the top is the current bullpen, and the bottom is the relievers they have in the minors.

I think the problem is that a lot of the relievers in the majors are former starters.

That is an issue, which I think I have addressed before. The game places too high an emphasis on Starters in terms of selecting a bullpen. As you progress deeper and deeper, you see less "career relievers" and bullpens just become made up of former starters. Which is stupid. Yes sometimes starters become relievers in real life, but no to the extent that this game provides.

The bullpen is NOT just simply a place for aging starters to go to when they get older. Which is how the game treats it.

How many SP HOFers go pitch in the bullpen at the end of their career? Outside of John Smoltz (who is a different story altogether) not many. Glavine, Maddux, Clemens, they didnt go pitch in the bullpen at the end.

Here are some of examples of HOFers in my game that ended their career in the bullpen.... And these are the best pitchers in the game.... It's much more rampant with the lesser pitchers who aren't good enough to be starters, much like those bullpen guys for the Diamondbacks on the first post

I'll mention this to Sebastian and see what he thinks. Thanks.

I wonder if it has anything to do with years remaining on their contracts and no money available.

wodi 11-10-2014 08:09 AM

I think it's just the way the game values starters over relievers.

Has no one else noticed this?
