Custom Game Initial Draft

1 Attachment(s)
Started a new custom game, with a salary cap (80 million) and floor (58 million) in place.

During the Initial Draft, I was able to select players for around 10 rounds. These 10 players have brought me too close to the salary cap floor.

Now, I'm being told that I can't sign any player above the minimum salary of 550,000. I checked the AI picks before me in this round and all of them picked a league minimum player for the first time as well. Every team has at least 20 million in cap space.

There's barely any players in the draft that can play in the minor league available on that salary, so I don't think the initial draft will be able to go through.

What league configuration was this? I tried a couple with those cap values, but got a normal spread of salaries with only a handful of late picks on each team at the minimum.

(And maybe double-check the League-Rules screen to make sure the cap and floor are actually what you intended and there's not a typo or something like that.)

Doubled checked, cap and floor are correct. Running an 8 team league with 78 games a season.

I still can't get a similar result with that setup. Could you upload the save and I'll try to see what's causing it in that one?

Yeah, something's not working right there, I've done the calculation manually and that message shouldn't be triggering unless you have <$18.15m of cap space left, and you have more than that. I'll have Malte and Sebastian check the code and see why that message is getting triggered early. Might be using the wrong value for the league minimum salary.

Ah, I should have realized this: it's checking the team budget, not the league salary cap. Your budget is only $68m, so you have less than $10m to spend on your remaining 30-odd picks. We'll change the text explanation there for FHM6 so it's a little clearer that both cap and budget apply here.

Okay, that makes a lot of sense. Is there any way to change budgets during the setup phase? I usually play on Challenge Mode so Commissioner Mode is disabled.

Not in Challenge mode (starting with the limited budgets is part of the "challenge".) They can be edited on July 1 with Commissioner Mode on, though.
