Player Development

Hey guys

I was just wondering if it was worth it to invest heavily in the development budget. I've heard that the development budgets effect on players is minimal. So, would it be more efficient to have a $16M, $5M budget or to just not invest in player development at all?

Ive used a high development budget when rebuilding. I noticed that along with good coaching staff, it helped develop the players i drafted late that were players with high work ethic and intelligence.

I can't say I noticed much of a difference when I had it high. Although for this edition I've been playing with the Red Sox which is a much higher budget team then I normally play, so I haven't rushed my prospects along as much as I used to when I would play with Oakland. I still increase spending though if I have the budget room going into the season, (if I have the choice ie didn't get myself tied up with to many big contracts I like to have a cushion of about 5-7 mill on the books, any more and I feel like I'm wasting money any less and I don't have budget room if I need to make mid season trades).
