Padresfan's MLB 10:The Show Ballparks

4/22 Update:Final version of Mod is now available. See post #59 in this thread for details.

Now that I have restarted the imaging process with improved angles, I have removed the old links. Please see page two of this thread (starting with Post #30) for the new images. Thanks!!

Hey everyone -

As I mentioned in the other thread, I'm taking on the task of capturing a day & night photo for every ballpark in the PS3 game, MLB 10:The Show. This set will be different from the excellent set that DesertFox put together in two ways. First, I will be capturing a set of images for all 65 ballparks included in the game. Second, the images will be captured from a higher perspective, allowing for the player icons in OOTP to fit a bit better. Some of the character of the ballpark is lost because of this, but it's a necessary tradeoff in my opinion. The categories of ballparks include:
  • Fictional Spring Training Ballparks (10)
  • Fictional Minor League Ballparks (15)
  • Classic MLB Ballparks (6)
  • Ballparks That Closed in 2008 & 2009 (3)
  • MLB Ballparks (30)
  • 2010 All-Star Configuration of Anaheim Stadium

I'm interested to see what you guys think. Thanks!

Ok, the first part of the photo collection is complete. If you want access to the first 69 images (34 day/night images plus The Metrodome), just follow the photo bucket link in the first post of this thread. So far I have posted the photos for:
  • 10 Fictional Spring Training Ballparks
  • 15 Fictional Minor League Ballparks
  • 6 Classic MLB Ballparks
  • 3 Ballparks That Closed in 2008 & 2009
  • All-Star Configuration of Anaheim Stadium
I'll post a couple of photos below if you don't feel like going to the photo bucket page. Now it's on to the 2010 MLB stadiums!

Thanks, these are really good. How did you capture them though? I can get the angle using the replay and hiding the controls, but I don't think you can take a screenshot. Do you just make a video and grab a frame from that?

BTW, wouldn't it be cool if a future version of OOTP could let us use more images for each park, so you could do the daylight transitions (like evening to night)? A different image for each inning would be overkill, but maybe one for every 3 innings would be reasonable. You could also do weather like overcast vs. sunny. It would be a lot of images to capture though.

awesome - I can already see 3-4 of these becoming my #1 for some teams.

When you get to the point where you have the shot lined up, hit the PS3 button in the middle of the controller and it takes you to the XMB, scroll over to the photo menu and select "Take Screenshot". Works great!

Thanks! Good to know someone will get use out of them. I hope to get back to work on the MLB ballparks today.

Thanks for doing this. The fictional parks will be perfect for my new league. Can't wait for the zip file.

akw4572 04-17-2010 03:16 PM

I'll definitely use these as my new ficitional league parks.

robc 04-17-2010 04:45 PM

I've got good news and bad news. :p The bad news is that I caught a bug with a fever that has me feeling like crap, so I won't be posting the MLB parks today, maybe tomorrow. The good news is that I learned a bit more about the MLB 10 camera and have improved the angle a bit. Basically, it reduces the fisheye lens effect where the infield is too big in the image. It doesn't eliminate it completely, but it's a noticeable improvement. I'm really happy with the results, and I know the folks following this thread will be as well. Stay tuned!!

Is someone making .prk files too or do you need volunteers? I'm curious to how the spring training and minor league parks would play with accurate modifiers.
