True 1-Year Ballpark Factors for Historical Replay
I'd like to see the ballpark factors for each season be accurate for historical replay leagues. Currently, it seems to import in 3-year factors rather than 1-year. I don't actually know if that's what it's doing, but that's what it looks like when compared to the ballpark factors on seamheads.com.
You wouldn't think this would make a big difference, but it really does. I've run a few test sims on the 1927 season using historical transactions and lineups. When using the factors imported in by the game, Ruth struggles to hit 40 home runs nearly every year, and Gehrig barely touches 30. When I manually adjust the factors to reflect the 1-year factors from seamheads, the stats look much more like what happened in reality. Ruth gets around 60 and Gehrig gets 40-50. I experimented with a few other seasons such as Hack Wilson in 1930. He struggles to hit 40 HRs and produces normal RBI totals using the imported factors. If I use the 1-year ones from seamheads, he gets in the 50s and drives in near 200 runs as he did in reality. The 3-year ones work just fine if you're playing fictional or using 3-year development periods for historical players in a random league or such. However, if you want to see them play as they did in reality, the 1-year factors work better. Thanks Matt |
Garlon's mod (which I recommend) by default now uses 1-yr factors.

Unfortunately, no. Garlon had mentioned he wanted to make it available to non-Steam users. Not sure what he's decided to do.

Do you use neutralized stats or “real” stats?
