Hey guys,

we want to constantly improve the real roster set, so please post issues you run across here once the game is released. Keep in mind though, it is not Opening Day yet, so these rosters are meant to be projections and obviously not the final version.

Please do not post issues with players being on wrong roster / lineup / pitching staff spots, the AI sets these up and there is nothing we can do to force player X to be used in a certain predefined way.

Also, do not post stuff like "Trout just hit .260 in my sim, this cannot be right." or "Why has X better ratings than Y?". Posts like these will be ignored! Major league player ratings are based on ZiPS projections, not opinion.

Please, please before you make any comments in this thread that touch on ratings or rankings, turn off scouting. If you're commenting when you still have scouting on, it's inaccurate, confusing and a waste of both our time and your own.

Please post here:
- Errors in contracts
- Issues with players being in the wrong organization
- Vastly wrong player ratings (disable scouting first so you see the real ratings), for example a Double-A scrub having allstar-calibre ratings

I'm just going to quote this so that it's repeated, because it's really important!

Be sure to turn off scouting (and also set the prospect lists to generate dynamically) before looking at or commenting on any ratings, prospect lists etc.

I'll have to check with Rod to see if those ever made it in. They may not have...

Roster Issue - Cubs - Drew Smyly
 

Game indicates Drew had Tommy John Surgery with DOI of 3/5/18 - IE before the season started.
I started the 2018 MLB Quickstart - on Opening Day, the AI assigned Drew to AAA on Rehab, where he pitched multiple times over the next few weeks. Now May 7 and he his shown out with Torn UCL.
Seems funny that I player out with TJS on 3/15/18 was able to pitch and that a team would actually use him.
I'm only simming as the commish (watching the Cubs closely) and noticed this. I'm assuming it is an error with the players status on the roster/injury list.

For some reason he got assigned a DTD injury value in the db. Fixed that now.

Btw, though, roster issues should go here, so I've moved this thread to that one :)

Yes, fixed now as per above.

Jose Altuve last year of new extension is listed as team option - I’ve updated in database a bit earlier to correct. I missed that originally :/

Just got it loaded up, first thing I noticed is that Hanley Ramirez has a Team Option for 2019. It should be a vesting option requiring 497 Plate Appearances to vest (a big deal has been made about that this spring because of Moreland and Martinez both being on the team as well).

Also, J.D. Martinez has a one-year contract at league minimum.

Mike Moustakas's mutual option is listed as a player option. I know in previous versions there was no real mutual option but couldn't you use opt outs to create one?

You mean add a team option and an opt out in the same year? Not sure if it'd work but might be worth trying...

That's the idea I would assume it would but I'm not sure.

I will run sims later today, but my first impression is that starting pitcher stuff ratings are low across the board. (This is with 100% scouting accuracy BTW).

*Assuming* the player editor is doing a decent job estimating K/9, this is what I figure. For example, Scherzer has the highest SP stuff in the game at 70, which projects for a 10.5 K/9. He's beaten that mark each of the last 3 years, and ZiPS projects him for a 11.4 K/9 this year. Jon Gray, for some reason, has a 55 stuff, which projects for a 8.0 K/9, despite ZiPS projecting him for a 9.3 K/9 and having never been below 8.8 in the past.

Now, perhaps when I sim I'll find out that the player editor can't be trusted on that one, but my first impressions are that those ratings seem off.

I’ve offered contracts in 18 with that setup with the intent being to make it a mutual option. I didn’t have any issue with it, although we both wanted to exercise our options so I have no idea how it would have worked if one of us had wanted to opt out.
