Major League Baseball Managers
 

I am starting this thread so that I do not clutter the Gambo and T_Wil1 Photopack thread with non-player posts. This thread will include images of Major League coaches, initially focusing on those who did not play in the Major Leagues.

Through the end of the 2010 season, there have been 671 different Major League managers. Of these, 119 did not play in the Majors.

In this thread I will post at least one image of every manager (save the 22 managers shown in the Missing Player List), starting with the managers who did not play in the Majors, and wherever appropriate and possible will include images showing them with each team they managed.

One image of each manager (180x270 or smaller) can already be found in a "Managers" directory in the facepack.

For each manager I will list his name and managing debut year in the post title. For managers who also coached and/or umpired in the Majors, I will also try to link to their posts in the coaches and/or umpires threads.

Shown as Denver Bears manager in 1965, Adair was an interim manager for the 1970 White Sox.

Shown as manager of the 1898 Dayton Old Soldiers (Inter State League) and 1903 Cleveland Naps (Indians), Armour also managed the 1905-06 Tigers.

ca. 1889, 1892, and 1904. Buckenberger managed four Major League teams:

Burnham briefly managed the 1887 Indianapolis Hoosiers.

Ormond Butler 1883
 

Butler managed the 1883 Pittsburgh Alleghenys (Pirates) for part of the season.

Charlie Byrne 1885
 

As shown in the 28-Feb-1897 Logansport (IN) Journal, Byrne managed the 1885-87 Brooklyn Grays (the AA precursor to the Dodgers).

Bill Cammeyer 1876
 

Shown in an undated line drawing, Cammeyer has been credited with managing the 1876 New York Mutuals during part of the 1876 season. There is credible evidence that he was nothing more than a business manager, but until another field manager is designated for the team, I will keep this image in the managers pack.

NOTE: Bill Craver has been identified as field manager for the 1876 NY Mutuals, so I am removing Cammeyer from the managers pack.

Taken from an undated woodcut. Caylor, previously cataloged as "O.P. Caylor," managed the 1885-86 Cincinnati Red Stockings (the AA precursor of the Reds) and 1887 New York Metropolitans.
