Updated OOTP Patch #4, version 10.4.36 available!

Hey friends!

We have just released build 10.4.36 to the public. Theis patch only fixes FTP related problems and a couple of cosmetic issues. So if you do not have any FTP problems in your online league then you do not need to upgrade to this patch.

Mac & Linux users: Before installing the patch, start your current copy of OOTP, then open the "Preferences" dialog, and click the "Unlicense Game" button. Exit OOTP, and then install the patch! For the PC version the patching procedure is unchanged from previous patches.

Here are the download links for the patch:
PC Patch: http://www.ootpdevfiles.com/ootp/ootp10patch.exe
Mac OSX Patch: http://www.ootpdevfiles.com/ootp/ootp10macpatch.tar.gz
Linux Patch: http://www.ootpdevfiles.com/ootp/oot...uxpatch.tar.gz

Here are the download links for the full setup for people who prefer reinstalling the full game:

Mac OSX Setup: http://www.ootpdevfiles.com/ootp/oot...install.tar.gz

Enjoy!

Will this patch and the last work together? That is, if the commish has one and a GM has another?

Ugh. Just patched up and this patch absolutely killed my online league. We're seeing ratings drop across the board. My power hitting 21 year old first baseman went from a 5/5/7/7/7 to 3/2/2/3/4, a 19 year old RFer went from 7/6/5/5/9 to 4/4/4/4/7, etc., etc. Happened to all teams and all age ranges of players.

kq76 11-20-2009 07:09 PM

On your forum you talk about how you were using a new player database or something. I don't quite understand it, but are you sure the drops you're seeing don't have something to do with this database work you were doing? That seems more likely than a patch that's supposedly primarily only FTP changes. I'm not saying it's not possible that it's the patch's fault, it very well could be, but it sounds to me at least that it's more likely due to these database changes you've been doing. Obviously, you think otherwise, but I'm failing to see what you're seeing as why you think it's not.

Regardless, thanks for the heads-up to at least test it first ourselves.

Did everybody in your league have FTP problems? Why else would you use this patch? In one of my leagues only 3 teams will patch as no one else has FTP problems.

I'll be interested to hear how that affects patched teams ratings.

Kelric 11-20-2009 07:33 PM

The database work was to import historical players for the amateur draft. I played with three different databases and none of them changed current player ratings. It wasn't until I patched up (and then changed databases) that we saw this problem. The database change should not affect current players anyways.

And I patched because both myself and my co-commissioner have had problems uploading the league files since the last patch. He couldn't upload at all, I had to upload the file twice each time to get it to work.

Just thought I'd mention that I'm still getting the same 202 error, even after patching and completely re-downloading the league file. I'll post more in this thread.

Libid21 11-26-2009 11:01 PM

No roster update? :(

Eugene Church 11-28-2009 07:00 PM

Markus or Steve, Is this the last patch?

Is this it for OOTP10?

I don't want to convert my OOTP9 league until I know there will be no more patches.

mgom27 11-28-2009 07:19 PM

It's for 10.

TheBishop 11-29-2009 01:37 AM

This patch has done nothing to help with any ftp problems I've been having since the last patch came out. In fact, this one might have made it worse. If it doesn't give me 201 and 202 errors, it tells my commish I'm on the wrong version, which I'm not.

After trying upwards of 20 times, it sometimes exports, but most of the time I have to send a file over, which also comes up as wrong version, so it's obviously reading something wrong. Seeing as I'm on the same version as my commish.....

just curious if anyone else is still having problems.

I'm having this problem as well, and as one of the commissioners of the league, it's kind of a big deal. :(

robster1225 11-29-2009 04:30 PM

I'd like to chime in and say that this did fix my issues with FTP. So something in this patch was good for someone :).

My commish must have patched as well. Most notably my 5 star pitcher in AAA is now a 1 star current and potential rated bum, after 1 sim mind you. Two of my ML SP's went to hell as well :) both good ratings, and great potential to 1 & 2 star throw aways.

Oh well...

damonrusst 12-03-2009 05:16 PM

If I haven't upgraded to the latest patch and don't use FTP, shoiuld I upgrade to this patch or the earlier one?

Steve T 12-03-2009 10:30 PM

I am having the same problem as others. When trying to import, I am being told that the import is coming from a different version of OOTP. I even tried exporting for my own team and importing from my own game, yet am still told that a different version of the game is being used, even though I am using the same game for both the export and import. Are there any solutions here?

bwburke94 12-10-2009 07:36 PM

Now I can't even PLAY! This patch RUINED EVERYTHING!

File Transfer Protocol. It's a way for the game to upload and download files from the internet. If you're in an online league you'll probably be using it. If you only play solo and don't transfer files online then you probably won't ever use it.

People who transfer a lot of files online probably use a separate FTP client like Filezilla.

im tired of this damn game and ALL the stupid patches... HAVE THE DAMN GAME READY WHEN YOU RELEASE IT... WE ARE PAYING FOR IT WHY THE HELL DO WE HAVE TO DO 10 PATCHES THAT ALL HAVE GLITCHES! IM DONE WITH THIS GAME AND THE PATCHES

phenom 02-10-2010 12:17 PM

Good call! Go to all those other vendors who make perfect games that never need patches! FIGHT THE POWA!

:crickets:

Nutlaw 02-10-2010 06:03 PM

Um. This patch was released nearly three months ago and was only necessary for those having FTP issues, from what I read here. Why the exceedingly delayed anger?

Have you been comatose under a rock? The game was exceedingly robust this time out despite some Vista issues with certain computers.

While I sometimes get a bit annoyed with multiple patches, overall I am glad there ARE patches.

There has been software in my career and in my play for which I have longed for a patch, in vain.

Uhm every major sport in the world has had "patches." The first "American football" played in the 1860's-1870's used a round ball. Baseball once had many more than 4 balls before a walk.

I think the last game to not have a patch after release was tic-tac-doh!

KGrob 06-25-2010 08:38 PM

I reinstalled OOPTX clean from my disk which gives me version 10.0.0 or something like that.

When I begin to patch, is it okay to install only 10.4.36?

Or do I need to install one or more of the earlier patches first, then install 10.4.36 over that?

endgame 06-25-2010 08:47 PM

There should be no problem installing the latest/last patch without installing previous patches.

But, if that's true, how come my team can't win any games? ;)

Thanks.

A patch is an update to the game. It includes bug fixes (and sometimes new features).
