MLB Roster Update as of August 30th Available!
 

Hey guys,

our roster team has spent the past months updating the MLB rosters and many player ratings (both MLB and minor league players), so we figured we release the current state as a roster update (as of August 30th) from the Add-Ons Central / Steam Workshop dialog in the game. The game date is still Opening Day, though.

To install this update for the Steam version, look for "MLB 2016 - August 30th Update" in the OOTP 17 workshop central within its Steam community site. Subscribe to this add-on, wait for the download to finish in the client, then start OOTP, open the workshop central dialog (bottom of the main screen), refresh / switch the list, select the add-on and click the install button on the right side.

To install for all other versions, go to the Add-Ons Central and look for "MLB 2016 - August 30th Update". Click on "Download" next to it and once it's complete on "Install".

This will add a new quickstart game and add a world template file to the template folder.

If you want to use the rosters as the default when using "New Standard Game" from the main menu, please follow this instruction:
- Open the settings dialog in the game ("File" menu or from the start screen)
- Click the "Troubleshooting" tab
- Click the button "Open folder containing customizable data"
- Browse to the "world_templates" folder
- Rename the file "default.wtp" to something like "default_backup.wtp"
- Rename the file "default_august_30th.wtp" to "default.wtp"
- Now when you start a standard game, the updated rosters will be used by default.

Cool, any ETA on the maintenance patch?

Not yet, we're waiting for Jorin to return from vacation tomorrow so he can look at a 3D issue. Once that is fixed and verified, we'll release the new patch, which contains a handful of other fixes as well.

even though i play 100% fictional, the game wouldn't be the same without the tireless dedication of the entire team. Great work everyone!

One quick question I have...
Is it possible to take the updated ratings (from this file) and apply them to player's original location/team for opening day? i.e (Carlos Beltran start on the Yankees, not Rangers). This way, we can utilize updated ratings for players, but have them start on their original team from Opening Day (w/o transferring over injury information...that could remain static from the original Opening Day file).

So either can we take ratings from this file, and update ratings/talents to the original opening day location/team OR we take the original team location from the original file, and update that information to this file. Gut says it can work, but I've never done it.
Make sense what I'm asking? Anyone ever try this out? Crazy talk??? :)

Followed your steps precisely, but the game will not allow a new game to be created.

Hopefully some goodies in Patch include Seotember 1st Rosters becuase Puig and so on could get moved where Risters are at 40 man,small additions like Miinor League Evolution and so on.

Well, since the patch was released on August 30, I doubt very much it would have the September 1 rosters.

I don't know, these roster makers are pretty good!

Yes, but Minor League Evolution works as a 48-hour time machine, see.

I can't get this quickstart to load. It crashes after the first 10%: could not load world file.

Edit: The problem was on my end. I was not on the latest game version.

My mistake. Minor League Evolution is such a small addition, after all... :rolleyes:

Yes, but today is not August 30, the date of the roster set. And none of your other suggestions are appropriate for a roster update release.

Home Run derby is not a small addition. The All-Star game site does change. And minor league camp would be about as useless as tits on a bull.

And this roster update was for August 30th.....I wish we could see into the future when updating the rosters, then we all could play the lottery and not have to work for a living.....just be patient, there will be a September 1st roster update at some point....if not, feel free to update the new one with the small amount of transactions that just took place.

He shouldn't be. If he is, it's a bug, but unfortunately I can't check on that for a couple days.

Actually, I was able to check the online db and it turns out that he was indeed accidentally retired due to a typo.

It's fixed now, but will only show up if we release another update at some point. Until then everyone will just want to manually un-retire him.
