Ready for the XFL?

A number of unique tweaks.

No PAT kicks.

Not sure I like the replay rules. What constitutes "a play that has significant competitive impact in the outcome of the game."?

Rules to discourage punting.

OT rules that sound like a hockey shootout.

Amazing Vegas is taking odds

Extra points. 1 point from the two yard line, two points from the 5, and 3 points from the ten.

I'll be checking it out. I guarantee it lasts longer than the sham that was AAF.

I hope so. The space between the NFL and the regular baseball season is too long for me (I don't watch bball or hockey).

I am fully prepared to ignore the XFL again

I am not enough of a football junkie to get interested in this. Although, I am more of a college football fan than a pro football fan so that may have something to do with it as well. I’m ready for pitchers and catchers to report, mlb network to flip over to their pre-season content and spring games to kick off by months end.

Boomcoach 02-05-2020 04:15 PM

I may watch a game just for the curiosity factor, but I am waiting for Spring training, March Madness and the MLS to kick off. American Football is waay down my list.

I will take a look, and see how it goes. Who knows, maybe it makes another year after this one. :)

ex Tar Heel w/the XFL's 1st TD.

Cobra Mgr 02-08-2020 02:42 PM

I will say this. In a waaaaaaaaaaaaayy too early assessment. Based on the 1st quarter, this is league is showing a much better quality of play than the other leagues that sprung since the USFL. Just on the opening 15 minutes of the league's existence, McMahon & Luck deserve some credit.

I finally got to tune in a bit ago. So far, so good. But I'll say this, you can't have live interviews and not run a delay on your broadcast, lol.

Agreed. At the same time, the lineman should have known better.

Cobra Mgr 02-08-2020 04:26 PM

Also, the XFL needs to invest in some better cleats. They look like they are playing on ice.

low 02-08-2020 04:41 PM

Two things I really like. #1 The kickoffs. Hopefully, the NFL is taking note. #2 The 25 second play clock. I'm all for speeding up football.

cephasjames 02-08-2020 05:04 PM

Jim Zorn is so low key. Makes me wonder how the players respond to him.

Cobra Mgr 02-08-2020 05:10 PM

Gotta say, the 1st game wasn't that bad. Again, kudos to McMahon & Luck.

I was actually knee deep in the USFL, I thought that was a pretty good league. After watching the first game of XFL I thought it fell short of the AAF or whatever that was called. They looked terrible out there. But I'll keep watching.

So far this league looks more like sandlot football than NFL.

ESPN Player is doing the games here, think it costs around $20 although not 100%, however YouTube is showing a game now. If YouTube show at least a game a week I'll watch, although I can afford it I'm not paying $20 for it. After watching the first half I get a college football feel.

I was a huge Stars fan. They had former Tar Heel Kelvin Bryant & that is where I became a big Sam Mills fan.

I enjoyed the on field play of the AAF. So far watching the XFL has yet to mirror that but time will tell.
