Online Utilities (OU) for OOTP 13

OU is released for OOTP 19. Get the the OOTP 19 version here. Readme is here.

Prior versions of OU are still available on request.

The latest version for OOTP 19 is 10.0.1, released on 5/24/2018.
The latest version for OOTP 17/18 is 9.0.1, released on 4/3/2016.

For those of you who are new to OU, it provides the following utilities for an online league:

- Allstar/Awards/Hall of Fame Voting
- Draft
- Export Tracker
- Gamecast
- Last Sim
- Live Sim
- Managers
- Stats

The readme linked above has full instructions for installation, configuration, and running OU.

Last, but not least, this version was a lot of work, much more than I first thought would be needed. If you want to see even more features, the best way to see them come to fruition is to donate using the Donate link at the bottom of every page. Nothing gets me more motivated than a good old "Thank You", and the donate link is the best way to say Thank You. I have at least 3 big features left to do, and if you want to see them in your own leagues, donate!

As always, let me know if you have any issues, questions, etc. Hope everyone enjoys it!

Older versions:

OOTP 17/18 (9.0.1)

Older versions available by request.

One thing I forgot to test was a multi-league setup. If any OOTP 13 leagues are set up this way, if you could PM me and send me your csv files, I'll do a quick sanity check.

It should still work, but I probably need to minor update the UI of the league selector to fit with the new look-and-feel.

Getch, if I can pick your brain on the config, that would be very helpful -- the website setup I have is a little unique so I'm not 100% certain I'm getting the path correctly for HTML reports and export directory.

Alternatively, will the utility recognize if I use full paths?

Strangely enough I am getting the background image, but I'm also getting the errors for HTML reports and Export directories.

oh, also, it looks like the league logo is still hard coded to be apbl.png :)

Full paths are fine. Looking at your site, it actually just looks like you need to click Generate UI Files in the Admin screen.

Fudgenuts.

actually... I just figured it out. Forgot that I had a symlink to cgi-bin so that threw off the path to HTML reports.

Where does it read the exports directory relative to?

Relative to the location of OU. This is actually in the little bit of the readme I've written :)

Let me know if you league has any issues with implementing. I'll release a quick patch with the any fixes needed, and the league banner (and some other odds-and-ends) which I've already fixed.

One more thing... when exporting the csv's in OOTP, check the option to replace the foreign characters with alphanumeric characters (I forget exactly what the option is called). This will fix all the garbage characters you see in like the draft and development reports.

Cool -- looks like I got the exports figured out as well.

aside from the league logo, all seems to be working! Awesome.

In 13, the checkbox simply says "Replace Accents" in the Tools - Configure data export to CSV files menu.

Just FYI in case someone else looks for it.

By the way, Getch - the utility looks amazing. The draft function is slick as hell, and development is beautiful.

I upgraded from a previous installation, now I am unable to login. All I get is "Invalid Login". When I installed it, I went into my profile and even set a new password, then saved it, but I still get the invalid login. Any help is appreciated

Does "baseball" work? It is the default password. Otherwise, PM me your site info.

Getch 05-10-2012 10:09 PM

Posted a minor update, version 5.0.3. Bugs fixed:

- No/wrong logo appearing in the title bar
- Editing prior picks in the draft doesn't work
- Minor cosmetic issues

Just unzip the latest file where OU is installed and you're good to go.

No baseball doesn't work. I'm going to try a fresh install and see what happens

sdodd 05-11-2012 08:26 PM

Getch -- we're not getting any stats or team stats in the Last Sim page. Link for ya:

Sim Results

What do you need from me?

mddst34 05-14-2012 11:37 PM

Thanks for the utility. Super useful.

Question:

When creating an import from the draft utility, does it create a new draft.csv file to import? I am asking because it does not seem to be creating any new file . Thanks!

Edit: I created my own draft.csv with some vi and python foo, but I'd like to know what the create import uses and then ultimately produces.

Weird. Zip up the csv files and put them in a place on your server I can download them.

Ah yes, I meant to write a small blurb on the draft import/export in the original post. Here's the full story:

In OOTP 13, Markus added the ability to import and export the draft from the game. In theory, you should be able to export the draft order into OU, run the draft, and then when it is done, import it back to the game.

However, it's not quite that simple. In the new version, OU will allow you to import the draft order from OOTP (this is the draft.csv that the game generates). The only caveat here is that if you import the draft this way, you will lose the history of any traded picks... meaning, if team A traded a pick to team B, you will no longer see "Team B (from Team A)" in the draft utility. If you don't allow traded picks, then you don't need to worry about this. If you do allow traded picks, and you want to preserve this history, then generate the draft the old way, by setting the order in OU and clicking generate.

However, OU does *not* support importing the draft back into OOTP when it is done. The issue here is with how Markus implemented it: The entire draft has to be imported... you cannot just import the first 3 rounds and let OOTP automate the rest. If you only import the first 3 rounds, then the draft lasts only 3 rounds and all the other players are tossed into the FA pool.

We tried to get Markus to change this, but he didn't have the time (this was one of the features I was hoping would be in the first patch). I didn't want to implement something that could possibly cause an entire draft to go haywire if not done just perfectly. If Markus fixes this in the future, I will add in an import-back-to-game option.

Let me know if that makes sense.
