Introducing the European Baseball League.
The league concept: Two teams each from 24 European countries, 3 subleagues with 8 teams each. The division winners plus one Wild-Card team will go to the play-offs - Wild-Card Series (best-of-seven), League Championship Series (best-of-seven) and the World Series (best-of-seven). Poor Ali Bleeker - early in the 1956 season he is ranked second in the league in HR's ... but not quite as high in RBI's :crying:
|
Enjoyed looking at the franchise uni's/caps/logo's.
Just 4 teams to the post-season. Make them earn it, I say. |
You need to rename Stockholm the Syndrome.

Well, my pitching staff struck right back ... three days later we pitched a perfect game, and poor Belgrad, victims of two perfect games in four days :crying:
|
After losing the perfect game to Lissabon on May 1, the Belgrad Knights beat them 2:1 before losing 6:0, being held to 5 hits ... then came the perfect game of my Palatines ... so their offense is in a real slump right now
|
79 pitches = perfection. Quite an outing.
The first of the perfecto's interesting in that it was a lead-off homer and after that virtually no offense to speak of. If the Knights don't pick it up a notch or two we'll be calling for a name change to the 'Mendoza's' ;-) |

Good races going on in the early going of the 1956 season:

Sitting in a coffee shop in Holland, Michigan (my hometown) shortly after the big Tulip Time Festival, I am feeling compelled to pull for those Amsterdam Tulips. Go Tulips! (Hmm, that sounds a little silly now that I say it aloud. )
