I imagine that this increases the odds of a Perfect opened being Historic? If so, this is a good thing overall.

Nope. 70% Lives, 30% Historics. So, now the odds of each Live has gone up to 10%.

Ryu is still a low silver? What is the logic here? Because he was rated so low from the start, hes going to be poorly rated regardless of what he does in real life? Isnt that the point of the weekly card updates?

Not if you are into variety.

Poor Trevor Bauer.

PS. C'mon OOTP, just one more for Bryant next week, *wink wink*....

Not to get everyone too excited, but, Juan Nicasio didn't go down this week! :woohoo:

And then there’s the case of Will Smith.
10 batters faced, 9 retired by strikeout, 10th hit a home run
Rating falls from 91 to 89:confused:

A curious case indeed.

And this is why I only have 3 live cards on my 25 man and their days are numbered except for Mondesi who is my util guy. I don't really have time to gamble on the live cards, but I could see where it would be "fun."

I think the biggest indictment of the live ratings updates I can muster is that the longer this has gone on the more confusing I find the ratings updates. All due respect to small sample size arguments and overall rating not being a true indicator--this method might need some more tweaking for OOTP21.

I think what happened is that his "stuff" is already 128 which is the max so the strikeouts didn't give him any benefit. Then the homerun caused his movement to decrease enough?

I dont know. Among pitchers and especially relief pitchers the changes are headscratching.

the weird thing to me is how the OVR ratings work. I track every single rating from the guys on my roster and a handful of non-roster guys on a spreadsheet.

Some guys get like a +1 Eye vs Lefties and a -1 Avoid K vs Lefties and at the same time their OVR rises 2 points? I'm lost when it comes to OVR changes tbh. I've even seen guys raise their OVR rating while losing more than gaining on the other stats and vice versa.

All rating are confounding. I just try to find which player works & which ones dont. Not a big surprise to have a 73 pitcher consistantly pitch like CY Young in Gold Leagues. I'm lost on rating throughout PT
