Lost Packs
 

This afternoon I purchased 25 packs. Had opened most of them...had five left when the internet/power went out. Now about five hours later, I log in and I have no packs available. I understand that one pack may just go to my inactive list, but it doesn't seem possible that five packs did that without me clicking to open them.

Thoughts?

Yes, they do that, and there have been plenty of such crashes before and the cards always seem to resurface on the inactive list.

We've been told repeatedly that pack contents are not determined until they are opened. Does this mean that the content is actually determined once any packs are opened, even if you choose to not open all in your inventory?

I would assume it just "opens" all the packs at that point. Something is glitching, badly, and all the packs are opened and dumped into the inactive list.

The content is determined when you are pressing the button to open.
So if you buy packs on sunday and wait till tuesday you can pull the new cards added on monday.
